Hamish Imlach - Black is the Colour

Never realised this song is a Scottish song and Christy got the song from this man.

This is really excellent. This version does sound kind Scottish

I went on the lash once with one of Ciarán Bourke's daughters. She told me tales of how grumpy Luke Kelly would get when she and other kids would tickle his feet when he was trying to sleep off a hangover.

The Dubliners from about '65 to '75 must have just lived life in an alcoholic haze.

Re Iarmhiman's post: ...ah shur the bould Spillane played low whistle on that track - 'course it's lovely!

Reminds me of a summer's night ( a FEW yrs ago) in West Cork. In a pub 'where the high stools were engaging', and in walk 3 hairy Breton sailors....downed a few pints and one of them pulls out a flute (musical!), and starts to play Horslips, 'Trouble with a Capital T' - the place erupted and they didn't buy another drink that night......later on we got one of the girls, who is gifted, to sing 'Black Is the Colour', The Cliffs of Dooneen', and something else...maybe 'The Lakes of Pontchartrain'.

What a night!

Repaired to the Breton's boat and they got out the best brandy, and chilled champagne from the bilges. Drank both, talked Geoghegan, Sella, Blanco and others.....watched the sun come up....best day ...EVER!
