Peter carried a hopeless Tyrone to within a poor referee of winning in 95 scoring all but one of his teams points in that final. Fitz similarly carried Kerry when they were rubbish.
For all his ability he won all Ireland’s with Dublin teams where every single player of the 26 are good enough to be all stars
Isn't it harder to stand out as exceptional in a team of stars?

Maurice basically beat Mayo on his own 1997. That Kerry team then was average and 1996/1997 Mayo team choked bad

Can’t see how it’s harder to win if every other guy on your team is winning their own individual battle

100 years since Bloody Sunday at Croke Park. 20/11/20

Before that some very bad things were happening already.

Fr. Michael Griffin was abducted and executed by government forces in Barna, Co. Galway on the 14th of November 1920. He was my extended cousin, according to some family research.

The hit squad got the wrong priest apparently. It was his PP who was IRA connected.

Hoping it's at least a contest.

It would be typical of them to win their 1st all Ireland since the 50s and no fans there to see it

Kerry, Mayo, Donegal, and Tyrone want to beat all of Dublin, not just a bit of it.
That day will come. Admittedly it could be a while yet. Until then Cluxton should remain captain, even if at that stage he's on a walking stick.

Sarsfields are pretty fcuking big in fairness.
Even Westmanstown who are the other Lucan club and are tiny in comparison completely dwarf the rugby club they share facilities with (Garda).

ER is complicit in this bogball takeover of hearts and minds too. He's a sleeper agent :uhoh:

So Brian Fenton, (Raheny), Brian Howard, (Raheny), Jonny Cooper, (Na Fianna), & some of their pals caught knocking a ball about in a northside park. All probably within their respective 5k limits.
Hardly a Dublin training session. Has a trainer even been identified?

Meh, I couldn't really give a shite as long as it doesn't prevent other sports returning.
However, it wasn't a public park, it was a club ground and all grounds are meant to be closed. There's a lad wearing Olaf's shorts and it's a long way from Ballally to Balgriffin.
It's the optics that will be the issue for the GAA. Dublin have been caught with their pants down and after the issues with county finals last year some people will be delighted to make hay with this story.

Dreadful decision. He's a shit ref anyway. Many a game has been decided by a shite decision from him.

Clare looked very good up to that. This Ryan Taylor looks the real deal.

Galway were so flat and i put that down to arrogance which this Galway team is regularly. Dublin are hard to break down with that double sweeper. KK will need to run at them as they may get no joy out of long ball.

Limerick did enough but Cork will get to semis I reckon. Limerick will beat Tipp. Still look the best team. Definitely the most physical.

It just took the wind from us, we handed over a few points etc... and honestly should have had a penalty, albeit was in last min.

Just don't understand how you could see that and think, clear goal scoring. Morris was just gonna tap it over at best.

For reference....

Agree on above too. Limerick will bate Tipp, they don't have the legs for them

head wrecking at the time ; after needing to hold on to the ball for 3 or 4 minutes leading up to that when the ball was in the forwards they then decide to try and hold on to it 30 yards from their own goal - thought that was it at that point ; fair fcuks to them for picking themselves up and beating a team thats won 15 of 19 semi finals under Cody - makes fcuk all difference though in terms of where McCarthy cup is heading but still,,,,,

Watched with interest. Quite entertaining. A few questions

1. Is there a lot of crossover between Hurling and Gaelic Football? Do many players play both?
2. Is there still (or was there) a cultural divide between Rugby and GAA sports. I remember when Ireland played at Croke Park, there had to be a GAA rule change as Rugby was considered an "English Sport"
3. Are the players professional
4. What is the point of the Hurling (and to a lesser extent Gaelic Football) goalkeepers, most of the time the ball is hoofed far above their heads.

At the lower levels alot of players would play both. But unusual at the top level these days as too much commitment required.
The cultural divide isnt as bad as what it use to be. Some private schools will still be all rugby and snobby about it but there is a GAA club in most villages in ireland. The old traditionalists of the GAA would still frown upon any 'foreign' sports being played on gaa grounds, but all that is changing.
They are not professional as in getting paid but pretty much full time training. GAA would never be able to have the facilities they do around the country if it was professional.
Maybe one day. WIth private investment. JP Mcmanus puts alot of money into sport in Limerick.
And as for the goalie! Well if they didnt have one, it would be a goal scored every minute instead of a point! There was a great save in the match today if you were watching it.

Well done limerick. Had them winning by 10 before the game. Class team.

Thanks for that. I must admit that I flicked in and out of it. Watched about 20 mins in total. Only change I would make as a first time viewer would be to get rid of the high posts and make it so the ball has to go in the goal for any points to be scored!

EDIT, hope the player with the knee injury is OK. Never good when a player goes down with no-one challenging him.

I wavered for a few moments though, so next time I'm home, I'm going to go down to the Redemptorists and wrap myself in some barbed wire and throw myself at some pillars.

I stay grounded by reflecting on the state of Limerick rugby...
