Usual run of the mill drivel about La Liga from you Deadtigers, I take it you didn't watch Chelsea get ripped to shreds by Atl Madrid then? The tragic thing about your point of view is that you actually think there is something laudable/acceptable about teams not taking competitions they enter into seriously. The normalisation of teams putting out second string/youth sides in lieu of first teams has done nothing but undermine the integrity of the game. Moreover its disrepectful to the fans, to the shirt and to the sport itself. The ultimate manifestation of this anti sporting culture is Arsenal - who never actually win any trophies but make a tidy profit qualifying for the Champions League every year. Hey, who cares? Winning is overrated, right?

Whens all said and done the head to head record in ALL European competition over the past 5 years proves the dominance of La Liga, in 15 Anglo-Spanish ties Spanish clubs hold a 10-5 advantage over their English counterparts. The ball don't lie.

Which is right and obvious.

Fulham (your team, allegedly) got to the Final two years ago. Are you saying they didn't take the competition seriously?

All teams prioritise and unless you are going to be a mid table side and have a decent size squad the Europa league is going to be down the agenda. Most side who make that comp are trying to get into the CL the following season. That was not the case with Fulham.

Spanish clubs are in the exact same boat, La Liga sides also want the cachet and the loot that comes with playing Champions League football.

Well I didn't say premiership teams did I. I said all teams

How much of the 10 were Barca? I know in one season they beat 2 EPL sides (Man U and Arse). They also beat Man U, a second time. You have to realize that teams have 3 comps, in the EPL 4. Unless you have bucket loads of money, you really can't compete on all fronts. You have to prioritize. For a Team like Man U, It is the EPL and CL, the FA Cup is a distant 3rd unless they get to the semis and no one cares about the cash grab cup that is now the carling. I fully support Arsenal's policy of using their youth/reserve team in that comp.

I agree with what you say about Arsenal running like a business not a club but the culture is all over the world. People have long hated the NY Yankees in American Baseball. They buy everyone's best players when they can't afford to pay them and rarely develop their own talent. The thing is the Yankees owner is not the richest owner in Baseball. They often have find way of generating review like hosting a soccer match there or American football. The thing is the deceased owner and his sons, poor more of their revenue into buying players and improving their team. Most other owners focus on turning a profit.

How much of that is due to the greatest team since the black and white Madrid side? exactly.

The Europa League can be a fun competition but the true barometer is the Champions League. Everybody in football knows this, except you it would appear.

Yes one of the best two club sides in Europe beating the side that is a favourite to go down?

Shocked I am.

I didn't say that to be sarcastic or put SPL Espana down, I just watched the build up to the goal and was like Wow!! ridiculous. Anyway Earl, you gonna watch Barca-Valencia in half an hour?

But while we are on it, I just saw a second yellow for a call that would have likely never been made (at worst a foul, no card) in the Man U-Soton game.

Deadtigers you explain away the Champions league defeats of Arsenal and Manchester United as being a product of Barcelona's dominance, then in the next breath complain that there is a gulf in class between Barca and the rest in La Liga. So its understandable to you that Barcelona would dominate English teams in Europe but you find their domestic dominance maddening? Clear double standard there.

Secondly there is plenty of quality in La Liga in that second tier of clubs outside of Barcelona and Real Madrid. It's why players like Juan Mata, David Silva, Fernando Torres, Sergio Aguero, Xabi Alonso, Pepe Reina, Mikel Arteta et al. left the likes of Atl Madrid and Valencia and made an immediate impact in England. I'm quite sure that Falcao or Llorente (for example) would be similarly successful.

Serie A results and table: http://www.tuttosport.com/live/matchcen ... etition=21

Juventus smash Udinese 4-1 away (http://video.gazzetta.it/udinese--juventus-1-4/122084) and are unbeaten in Serie A for 41 games now, last defeat back in 2010-2011.
Roma win at Inter: too easy for the Zeman boys, Inter are a shadow of the team built on the debris of Calciopoli (http://video.gazzetta.it/inter--roma-1-3/122103).
AC back to win with a Pazzini hat-trick in Bologna but can it be a lasting moment? First goal came from a ridicolous penalty, second goal from a huge cock up of the keeper and the third one with a lucky deflection on a cocked up shot. (http://video.gazzetta.it/bologna--milan-1-3/122021)
Looked lucky, if anything.
Serious threats to Juve more likely to be posed by Lazio and especially Napoli; the azzurri who beat a strong Fiorentina side, will not have any midweek committments during the week and will be able to focus on Serie A.

Walters and Long the best we have..

Not exactly Salas and Zamarano, in fairness.

Long is one of the form strikers in the Premiership. Ergo, on the bench.

McClean's one of the best wingers (at shit clubs) in the Premiership. Thus, bench.

I would feel sorry for them, but their diving was appalling.

I don't get why it's a rule in soccer that if you go down the game must be stopped. Cut out that rule and you cut out players staying down a lot of the time.

When was the last time La Liga had three teams in the semi finals of European football's only worthwhile competition? 1999/00. For the Premier League it was 2008/09. What has happened when the third and fourth highest finishing teams in each league has played each other? More wins for the English teams.

Due to the conditions that exist in Spain, Barca and Real are out on their own as the best teams in Europe, no question but you're foolish if you think that the third and fourth best teams in England wouldn't beat their Spanish equivalents. They've regularly done just that over the past decade.

What's more your list there is incomplete
