Gareth Bale just scored one of the best goals you'll ever see inside the first minute. He's some player.

interesting stat from the telegraph
"Mourinho has now lost 18 of his last 42 games as a manager. A defeat every 2.33 games. Seems a long time since his teams were hard to beat"

Thats mad. Apart from the odd patch here or there I find his Man Utd side are really slow.

Is he a busted flush or does he need time? He has never been a long term guy so I'm not sure.

He just believed his own hype. It's obvious that his players don't trust him anymore.

Can't see United getting anywhere near top-4 let alone winning the league. Another year without champions league will just mean higher and higher wages to attract players. Who'd want to join anyway?

He's gone from taking all the blame himself (well either that or the ref) for any failings, now he singles out players for criticism after every loss, castigates them in the media and so on, loses the dressing room and just continues to get in trouble with authorities.

There was an interesting conversation about Mourinho from three years ago on page 141 of this very thread:
http://forum.planetrugby.com/viewtopic. ... o#p2046045

It was apparent to all but the most one eyed Chelsea supporters that Mourinho had lost the plot and had become a basket case. It must be emotionally exhausting playing for such a volatile, combustible coach and I'm guessing that given his propensity to throw players under the bus he does not enjoy their trust.

His hire really speaks to Man United's desperation for success. By 2016 he was damaged goods. A toxic and divisive personality with a history of playing negative, overly defensive football who had lost his mojo who had been exposed as a misogynist and a bully in that spat with the physio.

Let's be fair to United, they might well have known Mourinho was likely to blow up after three years as he has at every other club but until now he has always given them a trophy in the process. It'll be interesting to see who they go for next and when.

Now 5. :)

Now we just have to try a keep a clean sheet for the first time this season.

I don't include the united game as they never came past their own penalty box.
