I wonder if this will be a shock to German football and they'll come back or a sign of decline?

So Ryan Manning has come on for his ROI debut. His wiki entry:
He made his senior international debut against Bulgaria on November 18th 2020 where he somehow managed to infiltrate the team posing as a competent left back when in reality is he incapable of playing the sport

Yeah it has felt like a really bad season so far, but if they win their game in hand, they are only 4 points of the top. Much closer than what it feels like. If only they can add some consistency to their game, instead of playing one good game and then one bad game....rinse, repeat. And at last they won a game at home.

Looking at football in general around Europe. It does seem that playing in front of crowds have a definite effect on how teams play....the empty stadiums seem to make it a much more even playing field for smaller teams. Some lesser players are looking like world beaters in these empty stadiums. Maybe it feels like training for most players.

Seems like a big difference between good players/teams and great players/teams is how well they can play under pressure from crowds instead of having now outer pressure like in training.

Haven't seen much of City. Saw the Tottenham game and they battered Tottenham. They had 66% possession and 22 shots to Tottenhams 4. That seems to be the norm with them away to Tottenham lately yet they always lose.

Aren't City basically struggling to replace Aguero & Silva in their prime?

Maybe. I think they have more passes than anyone else per goal. As for Aguero who is to say when he comes back he won't stay fit for the rest of the season but I think they will break the bank and get someone in.

They didn't batter us at all. The only save of note Lloris made was in the 88th minute from a header. Lots of possession, many blocked or long range shots. Every time we broke they fouled us and when they failed to foul we scored two and had another disallowed. We defended perfectly and attacked with numbers smartly

I didn't say their shooting was on target. But they had 22 shots to your 4. 66% possession and 10 corners as opposed to you 0 corners. You had two shots on target and scored two goals. So what if you had a goal disallowed so did they. They battered you.

They didn't remotely batter us. Literally one actual proper save Lloris had to make. Stats of shots and corners mean jack shit if not a single one resulted in a meaningful attempt on goal

Man City 5 Burnley 0

69% possession 66 against Tottenham
19 shots 22 against Tottenham
6 on target 5 against Tottenham
6 corners 10 against Tottenham

Burnley had 9 shots 1 on target Tottenham had 4 shots 2 on target

Doesn't matter if you get battered as long as you win

Was watching a little of the Spurs-Chelsea game as I ate a late b'fast. The amount of diving and cheating. The worst was when a black player for Chelsea put his arm across the chest of the the white Spurs player, who then threw himself to the floor holding his face. The Chelsea guy got a yellow. Who was the cheating Spurs player?

Typical Mourinho tactics. Almost all his teams are huge on diving and simulation form his Porto days.

That sort of thing should be a straight red. I can't abide it. Unfortunately it usually results in the guy who isn't rolling around like a plum getting red. See Martial v Spurs.

They should actually do something useful with VAR and use it to clamp down on the Neymars of the world.
