Grandpa wrote: Tue May 17, 2022 12:04 pm But why Mourinho? Not only is he not a Newcastle style coach... he seems to be well past his peak. I'd much rather stick with Howe if I was them. Better off going for Poch if want a change... rather than Mourinho...
I said on this thread as soon as Howe got the job that the only way he wasn't getting sacked at the end of the season was if they got relegated. I just don't believe they had any intention of having him trying to manage big name players. The only thing I will say in Mourinho's favour is considering what went before him at Man United and what has gone on since he seems to have been proved correct in stating finishing second and winning the Europa League was a good job.

If I was Eddie Howe I would have had my people release the rumour they are after Jose. Fan pressure may keep him in a job.

Southampton 1 Liverpool 1
Southampton took the early lead against Liverpool. It has to be said that at the end of 90minutes at the weekend and they had to play another 30. Liverpool score as I type but I think a well rested Southampton must be intending to run this lot off their feet.

No, I think he went Derby => Leeds (for a matter of days) => Forest (for a matter of 2 Euro Cups)

Forest are only club to have won more Euro cups than national titles.

Especially weird/unlikely that this all happened prior to the admission of more clubs than just the national league champs and competition holders...so it should stay a quiz question in some form forever, you'd think.

Samba took the absolute piss. I don't know who the penalty taker was for the blades first attempt but he was standing waiting in the penalty area while the ref was still talking to the goal keepers on the halfway line for what seemed like 5 minutes. Then Samba walked to the goal like he was posing on the beach. I can't believe the penalty taker didn't walk away refocus and come back. How the ref let that happen god only knows.

Hope you'll soon be glancing back at the EFL Frodder. Genuinely not sure if there are any other games in football with as much tension as the Play Offs. Billy Sharp by the way was personally very generous to Nottm Forest notwithstanding the idiot who assaulted him post match last might.

I don't much bother with the Prem but the dark comment about this mundane clip from Saints v Liverpool made me laugh.

Everton have pulled a goal back and they are at it now. Obviously they will be giving it everything at Arsenal if they don't win but I think Leeds will lose at Brentford. Villa have equalised against Burnley so they could go down if they lose that. I think all three teams lose on the last day
