is it just 15k J&J vaccines that are currently sitting on the shelf waiting for NIAC to get the finger out with the next delivery due in June.....ie its only the 15k people that are not getting the J&J vaccine whose lives NIAC are risking.....through an abundance of caution ?

AFAIK J&J haven't shipped to the EU since their vaccine was pulled in the US. They said they will start again now that the EMA has approved.

Latest 14 day report sees over 75s dip below 2% of all cases and if you add 65-75 it goes up to 5.5%.

Middle of Jan those figures were 5% and nearly 11%. Even in the middle of March they were nearly 4% and 8.5% respectively.

Those are good stats today
Another jump in testing compared to last week. Cases 'rising' but positivity staying low enough.
'Outbreaks' in a couple of schools in Nenagh, and on the Intel site probably leading to lots of follow-up testing.

Wife had the covid test today in citywest. Very slick operation by all accounts. Got a text at 10:00AM saying you have an appointment at 11:32. Arrived for 11:25, on the way home 15 minutes later. Can see how they'd get through a massive amount of tests, at least at that site.

Hope to christ this comes back negative and it's just a cold or something she has at the moment. She'll still be screwed stuck at home but at least I'll be free to go enjoy the sunshine.

Talked to work, was told that even though im vaccinated, the procedure is the same if she comes back positive: "Act like you have covid - stay at home for the 10 days".

Edit: one thing that bothered me about the contact tracing, wife told them she was with the brother on a walk outside for a few hours, that was the only contact. Guy on the phone said that wasn't a category he could pick so put it down as a "visit". I wonder if that's what they're basing their stats for where this thing is spreading on.

They're not opening sales to the public 'till the second of July.

I can't wait for a couple of pints before a match, followed by the match itself, followed by a meal in one of the many restaurants between Ballsbridge, Donnybrook and Ranelagh.

They underreported yesterday by over a hundred. Should be back around cases matching positive swabs now.

Its absolute madness and asking for trouble at this stage.

There was a different tone today after a couple of weeks of very positive messaging (vaccine issues aside). I would have said a few weeks ago the country was starting to boil but has calmed down with some moves in the right direction. There is funking zero appetite in the main public for stepping back from reopening as far as I can see.

Anyways, as I have said, its all over rover once NI opens.

Reading the accounts of the presser it's all about a "spike" in cases, and the "R number" moving upwards towards 1.

Which is mendaciousness at best when we know that today's positivity rate was 2.5%, and that the 3 day, 5 day, and 7 day positivity rates are all at 2.7%. This really does stink of keeping cases up your sleeve and then using them to paint the picture you want people to see, not what is actually happening.

There's been no cases kept up sleeve, at least not for long. The last few days are higher for positive swabs compared to the same days last week, it's not really a spike though, it's increased testing with similar positivity.

All the media running with the “worrying increase in cases” story this morning. At this stage even a child would know that they’re not reporting the cases honestly. I can’t understand why NPHET are behaving like this - it’s morally and scientifically wrong and they have completely lost the confidence of the people at this stage. Why can’t they be honest and say that they’ve tested more and the the positivity rate is the stable or decreasing?

So the shinners only appointed a Data Protection Officer after they were contacted by the Data Protection Commissioner about their harvesting of personal data. That's a very large fine at the very least, isn't it, and well ensure the DPC goes through them like a dose of salts.

Because there are no clinical studies on pregnant women you absolute fúcking melon.
