This is fúcking ridiculous - we know there have been very few outbreaks due to restaurants opening up.

I also note that someone from NPHET have leaked this before it got to cabinet.
We knew they were over reacting when they shut down participation sport nationwide because of one cluster driving to a match. Now they are going to put a load of small businesses into bankruptcy. This is not learning to live with the virus.

I'll be writing to my local TD today - the useful one, not the two Shinners or PBP clown.
Talk about doing your best to ruin any positive sentiment towards the new government. Can't see there being much left at this stage.

Staines getting slapped around by Ciara Kelly, loving it.

Here’s an article from the indo about the level 3 restrictions. Over 70’s not advised to cocoon. So the long and short of it is that once again this country is shafting the younger generation in order to avoid upsetting the older generation. Younger people in Ireland, who have largely shouldered the burden of the banking collapse, are getting the full shaft once again. Go have your house parties lads because the government certainly doesn’t give a fudge about you.

Studies from the US?

What about our own studies? Are we asking community transmission cases if they dined out or not to get a better picture of what's happening here? We can't argue we're tailoring our approach to local conditions and then pick and choose studies from abroad to come up with whichever is the most severe.

I really hope there's enough strong voices at the cabinet table today.

This could destroy any last bit of confidence in the government. The danger is it could drive voters away from them too.
Devise a plan, stick to it.
Don't start making amendments and tinkering with it before it's even released though. This is simple stuff.

Apparently closing (well restricting them to that effect) restaurants is covered in level 3. So it's not a 3.x if they do it.

Pubs though. Still closed but can be open in Level 3.
Level 3 says: "Additional restrictions for indoor dining" so if that means takeaway, then just state it. Again, poor comms.

You're right, 'additional restrictions' is a fudge. Possibly deliberately so.

I don't think the levels are particularly useful anyway. I think approaches should be targeted and tailored to the situation.
