Yeah boiiiiiii!!!!!!

Youngs gets the nod over Harrison, Cockhead still wielding the final say in selection then.
If picking the England Scrum-Half ahead of an able but talented squad player for a european cup match is all people have got left to whinge about Cockerill then he must be doing something right.

FYI - if you're looking for something, our academy is still crap.
You and saints both then academy wise.

Wigglesworth is an England scrum half as well...

Neither is Ben Youngs really, there are better young 9s in the AP.

Youngs on form is very much a test quality scrum half. He has put in enough good performances to warrant that.

Yes and no. At his best he can be extremely dangerous, but even when he is at his best his ability to execute the basics in some areas is not really good enough. His passing in particular needs to be more accurate. But I accept that if he could do what he did in the last round of this year's 6 Nations he could be classed amongst the world's best

Same with Danny Care, but they blow Hot and Cold and their basics aren't great.

He is clearly our best option at 9 at the moment. Which says it all.

Simpson was clearly showing the best domestic form last season- It's a shame he was injured late on, I wonder if he would have been in the final 31 had he been fully fit for the training camp.

Agreed. Slightly too hesitant for a 9. Though perhaps because of the forwards?

Jake White on pre-match interview just now.

He's comments aren't anything new - but to hear it straight from the horses mouth rather than through the Telegraph/Daily Fail filter makes it look genuine.

Looks like the trail has gone hot.

Remains to be seen if he's the best candidate.

^ and I agree with Barnes' assessment of him- we don't want Jake White-ball for England, also, the International game has moved on since to render it less effective.
Interesting that Sky have started adding Rennie and Joseph into the conversation- Williams thinks Rennie would be up to it

On the evidence of that showing, no. Montpellier were devoid of imagination and had no clue how to get back into it once Jakeball failed.

I wholeheartedly agree on tonight's showing - I think the strategy was not only dull, but worse than the worst excesses of Northern Hemisphere kickathons. And that is despite having a pack dominating all over the field.

The 2007 final was so dull on second thoughts - in light of tonight no thanks!

The white game plan seems to favour a kicking robot like Farrell and a fat pack good at the set piece.

The worst strategy to fall back on now.

Please God I thought we were moving on

Yeah, I don't think the RFU will be making a beeline in his direction after that display.

On tonight's showing, O'Shea should be favourite.

They will have to look outside the 'international coach' criteria soon because it could be too limiting.

I fear as a result of the original method statement that we will end up with a finished coach not moving with the times, just because he's 'been there'.

Well Ian Ritchie is the man making the decision, & he came from Tennis, so maybe he favours, kick Tennis, as the go to tactic !

As SCW rightly said today, Ritchie doesn't know a ruck from a maul.

He does however know how to be a good chief exec.

Resign please !

I would think Farrell would be last 10 if your strategy relies on a kicking flyhalf.

White actually tends to pick relatively flashy players in his backline - see Matt Toomua, Trinh-Duc, Tim Swiel, Butch James etc at 10 - the conservative pick is usually at 15 where he values a big and accurate boot above everything else (no prizes for guessing why)

Jake White as short as 2-1 at some places this morning.

Eddie Jones getting ever longer.

Eeeeek.

Something is happening at HQ.
