Zhvania!!!

Great turnover from Launchbury in the build up. I kept expecting us to fudge that up and it didn't happen :D

That is a phenomenal try

Raggs, it's been light touch refereeing - both sides getting away with a lot and very few penalties given.

So we're getting at least a point out of this game, that makes me happy (and more than I expected!).

Got a bit silly there. As good as this game has been for us so far we need to not get too carried away and realise that there's plenty of time for Exter to come back at us.

Looked like a no-arms tackle by Johnson there.

Edit: Exeter score a few phases later anyway. They're good at this, if not consistently good at anything else.

Very surprised Simmonds managed to track across to get Bassett - decent pace.

I think the tackle is a Farrell job. He does just flop straight on to the ruck at the end though so the penalty he was awarded originally was a bit funny.

That was an amazing defensive set.

Well done Wasps - well deserved. Exeter need a slap for that game, ridiculous approach after the opening 20.

'cause Eddie keeps picking him when he's half fit and international level is more difficult.

Cheers ex. Wasps into 5tg, 3 points behind quins.

I fear we could we'll miss out on top 6 now.

Pearce did his best to let Ex take it in that final set; at least 3 times they should’ve been penalised for holding-on in the tackle.

Some great games this weekend; say what you like about the merits of scrapping relegation or the oddness of having a playoff in a league format, every team still has something big to play for this weekend and it’s generating some great contests

Arse!
My step sister came for part of the weekend so I binned the idea of going to the game, plus I had visions of getting tonked.
Never mind, a great result.

Erm? You know who the two top tacklers were in that match? 25 apiece for Simpson and Carr...
Can’t believe we’re letting Simmo go. :((

Elsewhere i mentioned Simpson doing well too. I doubt we're letting him go, but he's not better than Robson and likely wants a shot at the starting shirt.

This was possibly Simpson's best game of the season, which is damning with faint praise a little as he's been poor a lot of the time and looked poorer still for us knowing how much better he has been. He wasn't exactly at this best last season either, so it's not hard to understand why we might not have been racing to re-sign him,.

LI now one win away from promotion and play Richmond on Friday.

Tom Stephenson has no luck. He's been superb since Christmas. Broken tibula and fibula today against Hartpury...

Still it's been a good season with LI not quite having it their own way. But I do feel the RFU Championship would be better off it it wasn't just accommodating whatever premiership team was worst last season.

The problem is that no one is making any money out of rugby at the moment. Prem teams have had a windfall, but it's a loss making business (for the most part). Without a backer like Ealing's, Championship teams are also feeling the pinch.

Even the RFU are skint at the moment.

The RFU is due to mismanagement rather than poor funding.

The issue for clubs IMO is they keep trying to pay players more than they can afford. I don't think the Premiership clubs will change much with the new deal. I think the RFU money clubs are given in the Championship should have a conditions about pay attached to it. If clubs want to pay more then they do it out their own pockets.

However I do think if there was ringfencing of the Premiership then conditions that clubs pay within their means can and should be set. That could filter down to the Championship and Nationals.

Wages are certainly higher in the premiership than the current levels of turnover can support.

The one thing I'd hate to see in the next few years is another increase in the salary cap. Either directly or by stealth (increase in marquee players allowed)

Why can't it just be copied? ... or is it something cultural that we're more likely to go to live sport (especially when there's not a lot of adult club sport for Am football, basketball, ice hockey to participate in)?

Most of the American leagues have no competition with regards to talent though, allied to obscene revenue that means they can play gazillions to players and still make cash.
