Interesting take on PRL leadership, well the lack of from Kitson

They had a team on Sunday.

I's sad for the whole squad that fought over the season to put themselves into this position and the season is finished by a virus rather than a better team.
To be fair they didn't have a squad fighting all season. They just kept buying players in. Mainly Saffas.

Would have been a great opportunity to showcase the game at a time sport is very restricted.

BBC unhappy as Premiership Rugby drops 'offer' to show Twickenham final
Exclusive by Robert Kitson 45 mins ago

Premiership Rugby is at the centre of another row, this time over television coverage of the Twickenham final between Exeter and Wasps on Saturday week. Until last week the BBC, having initially been approached by PRL’s chief executive, Darren Childs, had been preparing to show the game live to a broader terrestrial audience on BBC Two only to discover the “offer” had been withdrawn.

The situation has prompted irritation within BBC circles, with an entire outside broadcast unit and two prominent former England internationals having to be stood down at short notice. While BT Sport holds the primary broadcasting rights to the tournament, it would have significantly enhanced club rugby’s profile had the game been made widely available in a prime 6pm early-evening slot.

As it is, with no paying supporters allowed into Twickenham, the final will be much less visible with live coverage restricted to BT Sport subscribers plus an edited highlights package on Channel 5 the next day. The viewing figures for the semi-finals last Saturday peaked at 205,000, while an autumn international kicking off at 6pm on BBC Two would be expected to draw an audience closer to two million.

It comes at a delicate time for all parties, with BT Sport’s current £40m-a-year deal due to expire at the end of the 2020-21 season. Amid speculation that rugby’s authorities are considering transferring the broadcasting rights to a dedicated rugby channel from 2021 onwards, it also raises further questions about Premiership Rugby’s current stewardship of the domestic game.

Several of its own clubs were unimpressed last week by the handling of the Covid-19 saga surrounding Sale before the final weekend of the regular season which left the semi-finals still unconfirmed barely three days before the first game was due to kick off.

It is understood some members of the BBC’s planned outside broadcast team were made aware of the situation only when Premiership Rugby issued details of its coverage plans to the media via email last Friday. A Premiership Rugby spokesman insisted talks over potential live terrestrial coverage had merely been “exploratory” and “routine” but failed to offer an explanation as to why the BBC had been forced to cancel its plans at such late notice.

“BT Sport are an open and flexible partner but it didn’t get to the point of us giving BT Sport a formal proposal,” the spokesman said. BT Sport was unavailable for comment.
The twats at PRL are really not very good at PR!!!
I hope the government tell them to go whistle for money, rugby is run by deadshits. Any spare should go to community clubs direct and deffo not the rfu either.

Good win for Bristol. Great to see the genius Max Malins going in for what I think is his 7th TRY in 7 games since rugby started up again. So many of them have been solo efforts and he has lots of assists as well.

Exeter with a good half but fudge me Russell was excellent off scraps.

Exeter 19-12 ahead at half time, doing what Exeter does best. Racing shown a bit of attack style but it's still a close run thing.

Exeter not quite at their best so far - lineout has been poor and they normally protect the ball better in the breakdown. Racing have some powerful runners that have tested the defence and made some ground.

Could go either way, especially if Racing cut out the daft errors and keep their discipline.

Fair play to Nigel Owens, absolutely no panic and complete clarity about the time at the end as he discussed it with the TMO to ensure the right decision.

Epic win for Exeter.

Really pleased for Jonny Gray and Stuey Hogg. Prior to today, can someone confirm if they'd won anything? It's a big deal for the scottish lads learning how to win under pressure as well. Shout out to Gareth Steenson too who's the most decorated Irish rugby player in 2019/20 and a fitting end to his career.

Back to the team for a sec, what a story. Look at the likes of Moon, Slade, Cowan Dickie (he was excellent today), Nowell who've been there since they've reached the promise land. Yeandle and Moon since the championship.

Amazing victory.

Also side note - there is no excuse for Joe Simmonds to not be selected. He might not be as good as Fordy or Farrell but he's had a near perfect season, 23 year old captain of the possible european and english champions. 98% kicking all season in europe? No excuses and he needs/deserves a call up.

I wondered if it would be a problem, I heard Neig say put the clock back on and it not moving for ages. A good thing he isn't flustered easily and has common sense.

Jones gives zero fucks for club form. He gives even less respect for players rated by fans and the media. Jones is an idiot.

Eddie says he might give Ollie Lawrence a go against the Baa Bass.Says he thinks Ollie could provide the power in the centres.

If he is going to use him as a direct replacement for Many he needs shooting. I remember in 2018 I picked him as a bolter for the world cup. The guy is a very gifted footballer

Not watched much rugby since lock down for one reason or another. Max Malins seems to be getting some good press. Is he a good/deserving candidate for England this autumn? Is he likely to jump the queue ahead of the other young pretenders at F/H or will FB be more likely.

Difficult to gauge talent at u 20 level but he really stood out at that level when playing for England at the u 20s World Cup a few years back

If you seen my posting on this thread you will know that I think Max is the dogs nuts. He is getting a lot of game time at full back and is really good there. I still think he is already very good at fly-half and if he got regular game time there would absolutely smash it. Even if he played at inside centre he would smash it. Basically he is a fantastic footballer with serious pace and a good rugby brain.

England's match against the Barbarians on Sunday is in doubt after several of the invitational side left their hotel for a night out, contrary to the fixture's Covid-19 restrictions.

The players involved have been expelled from the Barbarians squad.

The game now depends on whether enough players with an up-to-date Covid testing record can be brought in.

Barbarian FC expressed their "extreme disappointment" in the conduct of the players involved.
