The usual shite. Checking his forward runners off most rucks, taking long pauses and then torpedoing the ball into someone's chest. His kicking was also a bit off all night, a lot of his kicks gave Reece enough time to beat the first tackler. Took his non-try well, but most of the work there was do e in that fantastic maul.
No disagree, he put in lots of good work today.

Picking him and Underhill together has been a revelation!

Curry’s tight carrying game is very good for someone his size and he’s been handy in the lineout too - two things I didn’t really think he was capable of before the RWC. Still only 21 as well :uhoh:
Just reflecting on the post Back era when England spent 10 years continuously refusing to pick specialised opensides.

Curry's carrying is effective because he goes for space rather than contact and inevitably draws in 2 tacklers. Not bad for a 21 year old. Definite future England Captain.

Heinz looked like he was struggling at the end and with strapping on the leg didn’t look great.

Hopefully he’ll be fit for next week

And, just for good measure, Wilson came on and immediately won a critical turnover. The improvement in our 6/7/8, over the last 6-9 months, has been nothing short of miraculous. And we've still got Willis knocking on the door.

As great as Curry is, I don’t see him as a future England captain. It’s probably the awkwardness of youth, but the fact that having a 1:1 lunch with him is considered a punishment in the squad, I’d question whether he’d have the right stuff to lead - definitely until he builds more off-field confidence and maturity.

Underhill speaks very well away from the pitch. He always comes across as a lot more intelligent and articulate than his orcish looks would suggest.

Dombrandt also looked dynamite in the BaaBaas game (so much so that I was surprised he didn’t make the squad ahead of Ludlum).

Suddenly we seem to have plenty of backrow talent around, after a barren decade or two.

He was his usual self - frequently slow to get clean ball away, times his passes in perfect synch with the moment his runner has just stopped running, a couple of flashy moments to impress Mick Cleary and Stephen Jones.

If you'd a decent 9 you'd have been 30 points clear at half time. Young's did more to slow your ball than any two kiwis on the field.
I think it's just you and terryfinch who think Youngs is worth his place. Unfortunately, with Spencer and Robson kicking their heels in England, we don't have other options.

Who would get called up at 9? Heinz was heavily strapped and then couldn’t run the last 10 mins. Or is it Young’s goes 80 and ford covers?

I can't think of another tier 1 starting scrumhalf I'd take Young's over. De Klerk, Davies, Smith, Du pont, Price, Murray, even Genia.

Youngs was fine, let's have some perspective on this

Slade was probably the only player that I thought actively worsened England when he came on - everyone else played out of their skins. the hits in defence from people like Wilson, Kruis and Marler off the bench were massive, Cole carried more in 35 minutes than he has in the past 2 seasons

He'll newver be fully appreciated by some, but I hope this performance reduces the number of calls for anyone but him to be our 10.
Whatever happens in the final I hope one or two of the young guys in the premiership really shine this season and put the pressure on.

That rip too. He also tackled a few forwards as well at important times.

I'll also say his kicking out of hand was essential, along with the smothering chase. It constantly put Beauden Barrett into a bad position when his instinct was to kick-off a counter attack and had nothing but a bad angle to kick from with little time.

That turnover by Wilson was HUGE, sucked energy right out of the All Blacks.

Owen Farrell

Young’s was good at the start, decent enough in the middle, then he hit the brake like throwing an anchor out. Runners stopping dead to take the ball. It’s like he’s only got 25-30 minutes of brain.

Just re-watched the first 15 minutes

We were absolutely awesome, punching holes all the time, smothering their attacks, getting in amongst them and attacking all over

At 8 minutes or so there is a shot of Hansen - looks as if he knows the game is up.

Am going through the tissues

Either Wales or SA.

Wales for revenge 2015.
SA for revenge 2007 and 1999.

Or, SA because.... we'd beat:
Argentina
Australia
New Zealand
South Africa

One after the other in the RWC.

I'm final for a 9-9 draw and whoever wins after 120 mins please.

If we were to lose... I'd rather go down to SA than Wales in normal circumstances let alone in a World Cup final.

Plus we seem to have somewhat rid ourselves of the SA hoodoo in the last couple of years, it'd be nice to beat them in such a big game to really demonstrate that it's gone

Losing to Wales after today's performance would be wholly unbearable. On the other hand BEATING Wales would be

Managed to watch the game live in the end thanks to an understanding misses.

That semi-final was ridiculous! England made the All Blacks look utter garbage. Every time their playmakers got the ball there 2-3 England defenders ready to mug them off.
And how profligate were we in attack? I was convinced those errors would cost us just as I was convinced New Zealand were about to go through the gears right up until the last five minutes as I was desperately trying to calculate how long it would take them to score a brace of tries. Never dared to believe we were going to do it.

Some insane performances throughout. When Wilson came on and his first intervention was to steal New Zealand ball I was out of my chair squealing like a little school girl. I've always feared the loss of concentration and cohesion when the finishers come on. Not this time. If anything we lifted and came forward with even more impetus.

What a job Eddie and John Mitchell have done for us. English players + SH brains trust to the fore.
