0-15 in the sale game, which is a classic.

On the stopping playing issue, I quit When I had kids because I couldn't justify being away for half the weekend. I never really experienced a deliberately malicious team except for the scumbag from Staines who stamped on my head, and in my much younger days, South Liverpool, who were a reformed team of teams that had been banned for ludicrous violence I think Sefton and Bradwall Boy remember them

Suffering injuries and the fear of injury are two of the three most cited reasons for players dropping out of rugby. The other is travel.
This is why I don't play - too many morons down in the merit tables who are out to hurt people. Too few of us there to have a run around and a few beers. I can't justify missing work because someone snapped my knee (saw this happen to someone else and stopped playing)

More generally, a ringfencing of the national leagues from the rest of rugby can't come soon enough.
Although injured at the moment, travel is the biggest issue for me, especially given location. An away game can easily mean heading out at 10am and not getting back till 8pm or later, and that's without even going out for a drink.

I know what you mean about a few tits out to hurt people though. It's a physical game, it's dangerous and painful on it's own, you don't need twats running around actively being nasty.
That's interesting, I assume you're playing 1st XV, level 6+?
Always a funny one for me as, I've posted a bunch of times and with the danger of rehashing, I am much more involved with club cricket where travel always comes up. I had assumed that rugby wouldn't have the same issue, despite sometimes longer distances, because the game is so much shorter. Evidently not the case.

For me, the issue with the guys trying to hurt you is that is has got more common. My theory is that as numbers have declined captains have relied more on meatheads and blokes from the gym who previously would have been kept away from clubs.
It isn't just that people are out there to hurt you, it is that I found people just wouldn't adhere to rugby values. We've all thrown a punch occasionally on the pitch, for any decent rugby bloke it is a rush of blood and there's a pint together afterwards. A lot of these guys will drive home in their kit having hurt someone. No interest for me with work on Monday, I'll go for hike and watch the game on TV instead.

Rugby is much safer than when I started playing on that front, cleaner and far less nasty twats but the collisions are worse.

Nowhere near level 6. Last season was merit, this season I think is just above (11? 12?). On the isle of Wight, so away games are expensive and time consuming.

I'm fortunate enough to be in a position where I work from home in front of a computer, so injury isn't too bad.

Does shoulder count as knockon?

Think 36 was played onside though?

Hurries, they're the top club on the Island, I play for the second, then there's the bottom lot. Bottom lots match reports are quality. It's amazing how often they play the better rugby/all the rugby etc, and yet lose by 30 points.

I know a couple of the hurries lads, basically because they coach the age group below me at the minis (there's only one youth rugby club on the island, 3 seniors).

It skims off the top of his shoulder, I don't think that's a knock on, it's not what I'd call someones arm.

I don't even care if the right decision was reached (perectly happy for that not to be a knock on tbh), but I really enjoyed that lengthy tmo chat. Can we have more of it?

He and John have shared the shirt this season, both have shown up really well. When taking Harrison and Ooisthuizen into account, I can't remember the last time we had two quality options at 1 & 3 :o
Massive win for us, that. Keeps us in the top 2 with 6 home and 4 away games to come :smug:

Neither can I! He's incredibly durable, but playing less every week will be good for him. Will mean he can go full throttle rather than knowing he'll have to go for nigh on 80 every week
We're lucky at loosehead - Ooisthuizen is a great experienced, physical option and Morozov is a serious prospect as well - he's going to be a top-class player.
As an aside, Glenn Delaney adds some nice detail on commentary - I'd like to hear more from him.

There’s also a lot more caution/awareness around concussion now; back when I played colts in the early noughties a fair few of us would play a colts game on Saturday and then play for the senior 2nds or 3rds the day after and I can think of lots of occassions where guys carried on playing after getting concussed and then played another game the following day (it was even seen as a badge of honour to do so) - farking stupid and dangerous in hindsight!
