Why haven't they subbed Umanga - he's been a complete liability.

Quite a fun game - Bath come out with one BP - probably deserved the 2nd one as well.

Another great result for Wasps.

Hooper just isn’t doing enough with the players Bath have.

Great game though, loved it!

I think Dai got stale and ran out of road. No doubting Dowie has done a cracking job though. The way umaga played it was a 14 man effort as well.

I think Dai also always had an issue where defense was fairly optional.

Great defensive shift from Bristol. They were also very savvy at the breakdown, pissing around just enough but keeping on the right side of Dickson.

Not sure I've seen a pen given for a low rather than no arms tackle before.

Falls under the dangerous tackle law I guess.

Dickson should have carded his mate sinkler there for swearing at him, dropped a bit of a bollock.

Aye. Shit tackle attempt from LCD, but Sinckler should have been given 10 at least for his behaviour.

This on'e a bit of a surprise? I guess he thinks he's quite a way doen in the England back row pecking order

Bath Rugby’s young back row Zach Mercer has signed with French club Montpellier – ending his future chances of playing for England in the process.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Montpellier owner Mohed Altrad confirmed that Mercer had agreed to terms for next season.

The French club has been a big spender on foreign players in recent years, making Springbok Handre Pollard the game’s highest-paid 10 last year, signing him after a big deal for All Black Aaron Cruden didn’t pay off.

The club was reportedly engaged in a tug-of-war for the services of 2019 Player of the Year Pieter-Steph du Toit before the Stormers loose forward decided to stay put in South Africa. They have now secured one of England’s upcoming loose forward talents instead for next season.

The 23-year-old Mercer was capped in 2018 by Eddie Jones and played two tests in the November internationals, coming off the bench against the Springboks and Japan. After the infamous Owen Farrell tackle on Andre Esterhuizen, Mercer won the ensuing ruck penalty to seal the game for England.

There's been some talk on the COML forum about this, although I'll admit I thought it (Mercer leaving, there wasn't much talk of a destination) was just rumour.

Seems a bit weird to let him go, as although we've got Falatau as first choice he's obviously away a fair few games and we do tend to mix and match (Falatau was at 6 and Mercer at 8 against Wasps). Reckon it's just the weight of offer and Bath having a decent back row but problems requiring investment elsewhere. (The game against Wasps was also a bit of an exception, even under Blackadder we were a bit play by numbers, think Mercer's game is a bit more expansive than Bath want to play.)

On international front, think he's never going to get a look in under Eddie Jones, if Jones ever wanted to look at more mobile, footballing 8s you'd think Simmonds at Exeter would maybe be ahead. As it is, with Jones' preference for wrecking balls, not sure where Mercer would fit in. Maybe head to France for a big pay-packet and some time on the med, and then back in a few years to see where the land lies? He is -amzingly, as he seems to have been on the scene a good long while - only 23

Tend to forget he's only 23 with most of his career still in front of him. I've always enjoyed watching him play from U20 days
Must be a good deal as Montpelier are not playing at all well at the moment. 2nd bottom in the T14 and have jusst sacked head coach Garbajosa and replaced him with Phillipe St Andre

Good move from Mercer.

Hooper is a farce with the players available to him, and Eddie wants a dump truck not a footballer at 8.

Looking forward to the Quins/Irish game today. Hopefully we'll see why Marcus Smith is light years ahead of Umanga at FH.

I predict Quins with a BP win.

Must admit I am not watching as much English rugby as I used to but there definitely seems to be an increase in the 'enjoyability factor' of late, at least in the games I have watched.
The rugby being played seems more positive in approach which is good to see.

Deserves all he gets. Surprised he was cited though - ref clearly heard it and spoke to him, didn't even award a penalty.

I'm not surprised. Refs and TMOs make some staggeringly bad calls when reviewing stuff on replays. The TMOs in particular are terrible - I reckon there are easily 100 fans on this thread who could do at least as good a job.
