Is it really getting built, or have you just stolen Mitty's?

At the risk of appearing insufferably smug (a risk I'm obviously prepared to take) yes, it's really being built. Most production boats are built to recreational rather than commercial survey standards, and bringing the former up to the latter can be expensive and time consuming. Second-hand boats meeting my commercial survey requirements are thin on the ground. I missed out on one such boat recently due to extra caution, which in retrospect may have been a mistake and a missed opportunity, but I was able to use it to drive a great deal on a new boat built specifically at every stage to my needs, for not much more.

It's a pretty exciting time, just quietly. Nearly three years in the making since I quit work after a health scare, deciding life is too short to sit in an office every day making money for someone else at something my heart was no longer in. A half baked idea kept developing further and suddenly here I am, a little sooner than expected, and as nervous as I am excited. It's a significant investment, more money than I paid for my apartment 10 years ago, but I'm confident it will be challenging, rewarding and successful.

I put down 10% a week ago and have not announced this to friends, not even to wider family, as the timing isn't right, but wanted to tell someone... So Mat, Nepia, and a few others who are friends of mine on FB, please keep this to the bored until I'm ready. I'll shout you a free harbour cruise.

I've re-added you. (Probably my own fault for the break in ''friendship" - I was dealing with some stuff)

lol all it takes is a boat ride

Until you give me a ride on a tractor, I'm unfriending you. :x

It's a great example of graphic art and piece of NZ history, and I'm not sure we've seen the last of it.

A boat is just like any other boat.

Whereas your red peak flag is different to every other red peak flag?

Awesome looking boat, Tah.

Well, it was a pretty limited run and I'm not sure how many would have had theirs framed, so it's one of not many in fact.

Obviously missed the original...

Any specs etc. on the build...?

I bought two older boats and stripped the one for the motors and renovated the hull of the other and sold off the excess hull and motors to pay for the renovations.
Its a very rewarding experience....but only a 17 footer.
Sad to eventually sell it but probably the best option...anything over a 16 footer is a whole lot more work and maintenance than I had time for.

Why not just get a real gun like real saffa men ?
FIL has personal modern Glock9, his old service 38 from Rhodesia , and some carbine thing (A1) locked away in case things get really tasty, plus shotgun at the holiday home to keep vermin away .

But his next door neighbour (dutchy) has an absolute arsenal in his home and is always armed even if he's just popping to get some fuel and some milk !

First thing you'll have to do is sound like a skipper. I believe your 'vessel has 3 births'.

I've not met you, but I trust you don't have an eyepatch and/or wooden prosthetics so you can probably forgo the arrrring.

I can just imagine me sat on that WC shitting my lungs out whilst simultaneously puking (I did this on my one and only deep sea fishing experience, only I was sat on a bucket of fish entrails and not a plush wc - I was so ill I didn't know which end was coming out, in the end there was no poop and I got my Frank & Beans out for nothing)

A fellow sailor's wife had a birth in a berth. Gabrielle arrived a bit earlier than expected!

So not a lot of maternity staff were about in the Hamble that time.

However mother and daughter were and are ok. Indeed we are likely to go to the young lady's wedding in September.

Time really does fly by.

WTF!! Poor kid is now destined to a life of failure. I blame the parents. As a kiwi lad he's got all of the NFL to choose from (not bound by location), and he goes there. Fark his life.

My bakkie is a standout bungle. Done some decent mileage on trips. Kids love sitting in the back.
When I had my last tattoo done I decided the old girl needed some artwork too

Just as well you don't get to enjoy it.....I love it...that's all that matters. And I think its a very unique composition. Something that I thought out.

Although you come across as the type that will have some stock tribalistic tattoo hidden away under your shirt somewhere...and think that you are the coolest.
