It better be somewhere remote and scary.
I have been doing mountain driving for 30 years and never once needed chains.
It is fantastic there. Not THAT fantastic though!ovalball wrote:Mudeford Sandspit - Famously, the most expensive Beach Huts in the UK.globus wrote:Where Ovals? We have one of those in Hunstanton.ovalball wrote:My sister just bought a beach hut £290K![]()

You should have come in to say hello since you went past my house. I've had to tow 3 stuck cars and an Asda delivery van over the last few days.pjm1 wrote:West of Scotland so not remote and only scary in a non-weather-way.hornets wrote:It better be somewhere remote and scary.Edinburgh01 wrote:Where do you live?pjm1 wrote:

Was up at Bridge of Balgie at the weekend and half of the single track road is closed in winter. Got through the non closed bit without chains but couldn’t go any further with or without the chains. We walked the rest of the way up to the mountains and much of the way it was impossible to know where the road was and what was just glen. Occasional passing place signs helped but sometimes I was pushed to know whether the road was going to the left or right of it.
The three times I sank in the snow up to my chest confirmed that walking rather than driving was the correct option...
Spot on, we were heading for the pair of Mealls but got to about 650m and decided to turn back. Just too deep to enjoy the walk and not a technically difficult excursion to warrant all that effort. We wild camped at the sign which says, “Danger no snowploughs used beyond here”. Had an amazing camp in a glorious setting and then headed up the following morning.Edinburgh01 wrote:You should have come in to say hello since you went past my house. When you say ‘half the single track road is closed in winter’, are you talking about the Lawers road? It is not ploughed or gritted so people who overestimate their vehicles abilities die up there. I assume that if you were heading up the hills you knew what you were doing, but it is outright astonishing how many people try their luck with totally inappropriate vehicles and no shovels, boots, warm clothes etc.
Coincidentally on Saturday I took my Discovery with all terrain tyres up some local forest / hydro tracks just to see what I could get through. There was no risk as I know the tracks and went up slopes, but not down the other sides so if I did get stuck, I could back down the hill. What these things can do with proper tyres, raised suspension and on snow setting is quite staggering.
Farking hell, he does't just have any tyres, they are M&S tyres!pjm1 wrote: Spot on, we were heading for the pair of Mealls but got to about 650m and decided to turn back. I can confirm my M&S tyres on the RR need replacing - thinking Duratec or Wranglers or similar. I did also manage a bit of towing back at home - amusingly an X3 on runflats. The Kia Sportage behind was fine but the BMW would have caused a long jam had I not driven down to help him up to the top.
Aren't Wranglers and Duratec the same thing?pjm1 wrote:Spot on, we were heading for the pair of Mealls but got to about 650m and decided to turn back. As a network engineer, I just have to say I hate Mac PCs. They really are shite. I have no idea why plums state they are better than windows machines....J Man wrote:
Yeah yeah you pay a premium but if you aren't that techie and only want to browse forums/youtube, the usability kicks arse. Shits all over windows and is very fast.
Because the thing starts up when I want it to and I don't have to wait 40 minutes. Windows might be better with the tech stuff that is way above my head, but I don't need it for that - I'm not looking to code for Elon Musk.Miester wrote:As a network engineer, I just have to say I hate Mac PCs. Yeah, it's not bad, at least I can back it up to my computer. Better as a phone too, no more complaints people can't hear me. Better internet experience also. But the Windows Nokia had much the better swipe keyboard. Also took me a while to find a suitable substitute for OneNote. I'd like this Xperia Z5 Compact with the Nokia keyboard. Fer shure, the pink one with a burgundy leather case from Snakehive.mr bungle wrote:And did you get the pink one?SASP wrote:usermame wrote:Found Microsoft has already suspended back up services for phones on Win 8.1, the only way they can be backed up, fuck them, fuck them, fuck them.

I'm not a network engineer but I hate them too. I know people who can't save a file on them because they can't find folders.Miester wrote: As a network engineer, I just have to say I hate Mac PCs. They really are shite. I have no idea why plums state they are better than windows machines....
