Somethings off. Why is it over 30s in the UK, but over 50s here....
The reason given is that the chance of getting COVID for 30-50s is far greater in the UK than in Australia, therefore the risks associated with not vaccinating is much greater relative to the risk of blood clots for that age group. So blood clot risk same, COVID risk different.

What I don't understand is the risk is higher from taking the pill. And its because you have some underlying condition? Could they not test for that and give those people the Pfizer one?

Not sure if correct but supposedly the clotting with AZ is the opposite (platelet count) than the Pill-type of clotting.

Despite all the challenges associated with this Coalition government. All the rorts and corruption, all the rape scandals and sex scandals. All the COVID-19 deaths in aged care and now the botched vaccination program. Despite the litany of failures from this government, all the Coalition voters on this thread must at least be relieved their franking credits have not be touched? Ella Fan? Kiap? Shanky?

For the pill, the risk-reward is entirely different. The consequences of getting pregnant when you don't want to are far greater than the small chance of getting COVID when you're of breeding age and getting very sick/dying. Worth the still rare chance of getting blood clots, which generally aren't as life-threatening anyway for the pill. The real issue for the govt is vaccine hesitancy - not the danger of the clots themselves.

For the testing, the problem with a really rare outcome is you can't design proper experiments to work out what the cause is. There are too few people who are likely variable for all sorts of things to go from a correlation of some potential thing to a causative agent. It becomes a matter of guesswork. THere's a decent chance that we'll never know.

When will all over 50s be vaccinated?

When do the first 10 million people get the Pfizer shots and who are these people.

Finally, who are the last 10 million people that get the second batch of Pfizer - in December presumably.
Wont happen until next year. They are saying last quarter so you know it be after that.

Clogs, he's been posting trolling sensationalist crap all day to politicise the covid vaccine rollout.

As AC probably well knows, but chooses to intellectually dishonestly ignore, the reason that a couple of other vaccines have not been so far procured/applied in this country, is that the producer drug companies demanded that countries using them granted indemnities against any suit by users for damages, in the event the accelerated certification/roll out missed some serious/fatal side effect.

I doubt that even AC wants the Australian taxpayers to underwrite that risk.

How much is the Oz economy losing per day without international visitors? How many companies will fail? How many families will have their futures churned for things out of their control?

Underwriting the liability might be chump change in comparison to the very real economic damage that's occurring right now. Plus, the government is free to engage an insurance company to mitigate the risk.

Anyone who supports this government must just hate Australia - why else would they think they're not a disaster?

It was a dark and foreboding night when the #PerthcabalisBestcabal crew met in the shadow of the Hanging Tree. Evil stalked the land and The Jester had forsaken the baubles, bells and bonnet for a more serious countenance. The Stout Defender and I could only stand agog, Truth Beers unhanded as he confessed his ALP membership to us... reams of Planet Rugby shitfights flashed before our eyes, The Peoples' Prince unmasked. So in the last 24 hours Scott Morrison has just announced that there will no longer be any timelines or schedule for vaccinations in Australia. He's obviously sick of his govt failing to meet its own timelines, so he's scrapped them. Vaccinations are obviously the latest 'on water matter'.

Also Andrew Laming, fresh from his empathy training, has decided he's no longer quitting politics and will re-contest for the next election.

What a disgrace this government is.

It's quite a good read all up, really.

He's toast. I wonder how much collateral damage Stokes will take and whether that would flow on into the War Memorial funding.
Do you think he's toast? With Stokes's financial backing no-one will ever be able to lay a finger on him.
