The best new and returning TV series of 2020?
The best new and returning TV series of 2020?
I'll start with the best pilot I've seen in a long while:
True Detective.

Can't believe Matthew McConaughey can actually act. He is superb. Woody Harrelson is pretty good too. Never used to like police procedurals, but The Wire and, lately, Broadchurch and Top of the Lake changed that.
Show I'm most looking forward to returning is:
House of Cards.
It's all going to go to shit for sure (in the same way you always knew Breaking Bad would), but it should be awesome watching.

Not sure if you have noticed..The bridge is back on the tele ..series two.
Very good too.
She is back with added nutbar.
There is something extremely mental about that woman that goes way beyond aspergers.
She is like a mental Sandra Bullock.
Episode six you get to see he wanking on her side (for added weirdness) looking at her sleeping boyfriend too..which is pretty f**king awesome.

Apart from the usual suspects (GOT, TWD etc) my pick would be Vikings S2. Also looking forward to Klondike.

Community and Justified so far.
House of Cards, um, no ... underwhelmed big time, had pretensions at being great TV but just came across like that guy in your class who tries to hard to fit in.
Orphan Black is another.

This:

If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favor, get the box-set and book yourself an evening to block-watch it before Season 2 starts.

Re: The best new and returning TV series of 2014?
Think Netflix are streaming House Of Cards in Ultra HD (4k) for those who have the teles and want some ultra HD content.
You probably need about 10 mb internt though.
Netflix intend to stream much more 4k content too I believe.
Ps) Before anyone goes mad I dont have either..Netflix, a 4K Tele or 10 mb internet.
Just something I heard watching Revisions 3s HD Nation.

Community's been great since the start of Season 5. Harmon's back calling the shots and it already feels like season 2/3.
Loving the Archer 're-boot'.
Spoiler: show

Is True Detective a "case of the week" cop show or an on going long story? I can't stand the former.

It was fantastic wasn't it!Nieghorn wrote:Community's been great since the start of Season 5. Harmon's back calling the shots and it already feels like season 2/3.

Re: The best new and returning TV series of 2014?
True Detective is ace. I thought it might be just a standard police procedural with slightly better cinematography but it's going in all kinds of unexpected directions after just two episodes.
What the fudge happened to Matthew McConaughey? Did someone just tell him that didn't actually have to be such a douche?

I wouldn't bet against it...
I love Pete.
Re: The best new and returning TV series of 2014?
Pete fluctuates so much between being a slimy little toad and an actually sympathetic character that you half hope he doesn't go off the deep end by the finale.
I'm interested in seeing what Draper does post-SCDP. I hope he sets up a modelling agency and bangs every single one of them.

Not that I'm complaining. I'm trying to find the girlfriend a show to fill the void that was left by Breaking Bad. We've tried Boardwalk Empire, but it left her cold. Banshee is decent - we both like it. I've got my fingers crossed for True Detective. Justified does not do it for her - which is good because I don't want to sit through 4 seasons of it again.
Anything contemporary or non-sci-fi or fantasy and gritty that is "believable" is the basic criteria. I'll give the Bridge a go and try the Blacklist. Unfortunately most TV series that are from network television don't really go over well with us.
Re: The best new and returning TV series of 2014?
I'm most looking forward to The Strain. Some kind of vampires in New York thing; sounds kind of lame, but Guillermo del Toro is an executive producer, directed the pilot, and co-wrote the book it's based on. Should be equal parts disgusting and excellent.

Re: The best new and returning TV series of 2014?
The new Barbarella series could go either way. Amazon are funding it. There's also talk of Netflix being the home of Ron Howards The Dark Tower series, which they sound like they could be putting serious money into.
