Looking forward to this one, that first season was far better than I'd have thought a series based on the Karate kid could be.

I really want to like the things Brit Marling does, they always sound interesting, but they're usually a massive slog. Gave up on season 1.

My reaction to the beginning of The OA season 1:

Spoiler: show

to the middle:

Spoiler: show

and to the end:

Spoiler: show

I had successfully wiped that last episode from my memory.
Had.

If you think the ending to season 1 of the OA is ludicrous, the ending for season 2 tops it completely

Going to watch the last ep of S1 of the OA tonight. I've quite liked it and we have the benefit of going straight into S2. S1 was out in 2016.

Enjoying Suburra on Netflix at the moment. Crime and Political drama set in Rome. Better than the Gomorrah series I think and nice seeing Rome in glorious UHD.

liked it, but not even close to gomorrah imo, especially the first 2 seasons
suburra tv series is the prequel to a movie, watched it after and it's a bit shit, don't bother
Just finished Gomorrah series 2. So good. Series 3 not available in the US but, er, a friend is helping me out with that .

Kind of like The Wire I feel, but not a single likable character (at least, not one that survives for more than a handful of episodes). The violence is just so brutal

Sorry. Had assumed that people had already seen it.

Nae bother. Watching on Amazon think they've only just released 3

It just released on Amazon in advance of season 4. Seasons 1-3 were on Syfy or Netflix (outside the US). Season 3 was released a year ago.

Just finished myself. So glad to hear that Amazon's picked it up! I've tried a few sci-fi series in the last couple of years and nothing's gripped me like this...

I've got the first audiobook on hold from my library.

Just finished The Santa Clarita Diet season 3.....really good fun. A nice switch on and switch off show with genuinely funny moments - Tim Olyphant is a very funny man - and Drew Barrymores chin is not to distracting.

Very fun show, Olyphant is far and away the best actor in it. I find it odd that he's not a bigger star becaue he's been excellent in everything I've ever seen him in and he's a handsome devil.

I got a Firefly kick out of them swapping Alan Tudyk in for Nathan Fillion as the voice of the disembodied head.

I loved every single episode. Some of the animation is nuts!

Also, author Charles Stross announcing this morning on Twitter that The Laundry Files will be adapted. Could be brilliant.

a few of those episodes on love death robots deserve their own full length movie/show, the first one, the one where farmers battle aliens and the werewolf marine can all works as tv shows but the last one, the russian one will make an excellent movie ..

i downloaded the whole season in 2016, had it on my PC for like a year, kept pondering if i should watch it, then i was like " meh", deleted it so won't bother with s2..i'm blaming the handmaidens tale an lemony snicketts for putting me off of watching shows that have crappy endings

Not new or returning series at all but just watched the first 4 episodes of Jed Mercurios Bodies and its bloody good. All on BBC iPlayer so good for a binge. Gritty and compelling with some pretty dark humour and some quite graphic sex scenes. Some similar themes to Line of duty, well worth a watch

Veep season is again brilliant.

Barry Season 2 equally so, better than S1 by some margin. The bald Armenian dude steals the show.

Huge in France on Netflix has been very good so far.

Does Barry get better after episode 1 because it was very weak

I liked it, makes you think. Got a bit up it's own arse in season 2 but not as much as Westworld did. Some really good performances.

Star Trek Discovery season 2 finale:

Spoiler: show
Surely this is a set up for a Captain Pike and the Enterprise show? Pike, Number One, new Spock and the Enterprise are so good.

Awesome visuals for the space battle, but it was a bit static at times. The time travel effects were cool, very cool.

Just started Das Boot.

So far (1 episode in) - sod being in a submarine. Just sod that right off.

Interesting watching a World War 2 show that doesn't make all German's bad people.

Has anyone else watched it - does it hold a high level throughout?

Only recently discovered Rick and Morty is on an endless loop at Adult Swim (likely from a poster here, so cheers!) https://www.adultswim.com/streams/rick-and-morty (hopefully it works for you if you're a fan and not geo-blocked ... fine in Canada ... )

Dropped in and have to say that The Ricklantis Mixup (season 3, ep 7 I think) is utter genius. Deep look at the Citadel where just Ricks and Mortys live in various roles, where we see a political race with lots of reference to recent US politics and maybe the film Bob Roberts, a disgruntled worker come terrorist in Wonka-like factory, an amazing Training Day police sequence and some Mortys on a Stand By Me coming of age quest which started at a Harry Potter type school for Rickless Mortys. Surprisingly tight with all those and more thrown in.

Oh god I'd watch that, he's gorgeous. Plus we could do with something Episodic. Seems like 99% of TV progs have a whole season arc now.
Great CGI

I had some questions and musings
Spoiler: show
I didn't buy the got to keep everything quiet
Torpedo destroys half the ship but pike is fine behind a door. Silly death surely some rope pulling lever would have done it. Though character did seem done.
Why was she able to just be in space with her brother waffling away and not be attacked by a drone.
And how were they able to have the whole exposition without the word 'paradox', I got the logic behind that's the point she goes back and gets them, but when did she decide those were the events that needed to happen, further into the future?
Spock looked better with a beard, even if he is dirtier than a dog
Cant' they do spore drives on another ship?
What sort of HR manager would think Ash was a good choice for head of Section 31? He's not even human. Yes I know I should respect how he identifies.
