Just finished When They See Us.

Remarkable mini series, if really tough going in parts. What happened to those kids was sick really. Brilliant acting from the cast, the last episode is just brutal and moving stuff.

We stumbled across that, finished it in 2 nights. I was too young to remember it but fudge that was brutal. Good to see what they're doing now at the end.

Just started watching The Hot Zone about how a widespread ebola contagion was narrowly prevented in the US in 1989. It appears they've put some effort into detailing the scientific approach of the research and containment process. For that reason I would think it's going to be compared against Chernobyl, an unfair fight which it will fail to match. However there was enough in it for me to persevere to the next episode. Tho the immediate difference you notice is how much more "American" it is (which is ironic given Chernobyl is an HBO product, written and directed by Americans, but seemingly tempered by British restraint).

Like Chernobyl, a limited series of only 6 episodes.

Hard to say.
Not the Patagonia one and not the teams one.
Can’t be alone in pairs Ffs.
I’d say just jump in on the current season and see how you like it.

What makes it compelling is that the vast majority are beaten not by starvation or cold but by their own minds.
Watching that transition from defiant misery to defeat is interesting, and the shows editors do a good job of keeping the viewers guessing until the end of each episode.

Once the loser talk starts it’s almost inevitable that the yellow phone comes out soon after.
Then come the justifications and the haunted ‘what if I’d just tried a little harder’ looks.
These people are pretty well broken by the time they tag out.

Watched Dead to Me. It's not great but it's pretty good if you've got nothing esle to watch or don't want to engage your brain too much.

Not sure how far your are in Dead to Me.....but stick with it. Some really good acting from the 2 leads - and a palpable sense of dread and tension in the last 3 episodes.

Waaaaay better than I thought it was going to be.

Big little lies is one episode into the second season.

Nicole Kidman is going to slowly come around to nutty meryl Streep's side and plot "revenge" ; yeah, "dead to me" is very entertaining ; watched to episode 3 a while back, forgot it and watched 2 episodes last night with missus, the support group drunk weekend away had some priceless scenes ; Applegate is great

another nod to the German " bad banks" and Belgian "undercover" - both worth a viewing

When they were cancelled I lost all interest.
Luke Cage watched 1 episode, gang violence is real turn off for me.
Haven't watched s2 of Iron fist, s3 of Daredevil.
S2 of Jessica Jones was not good.

So unless the reviews are amazing I'll probably pass.

I love Jessica Jones in the comics, detest the series. The actress and the whole intepretation of the character are really not right.

Cage probably could have worked better as 6 episode mini seasons, they never seemed to have enough material to justify the length they were.

They f**king nailed Daredevil & Punisher, though.

every season of DD and Punisher were good..for Luke only season 2, for Iron Fist, don't bother, avoid their "crossover" series too ..JJ showed promise in season 2 but it just didn't deliver...we need to see her as a superheroine, she can actually "fly" or atleast jump really high but doesn't...she is supposed to be as strong as Luke but isn't..

Luke Cage S1 was good until they killed off Ali’s character. Iron Fist I had really low expectations going in to it and they exceeded them tbf, but still nothing on DD and Punisher

First season was good with the investigation into the conspiracy and Sutherland's character finding his feet. Lost interest very fast in the second season when it became just another White House drama. Yawn.

I was pretty convinced I wasn't going to be into it when I started it but it's decent drama. Probably has more to do with the main characters being good actresses.

I suppose I'm more impressed with tele that doesn't rely on violence or overkill violence as the main hook.

The only downside is its an episode per week to get through it. Just seems such a dated model now.

Just started watching When They See Us myself, and like any dramatisation or investigation into racial injustice it made me angry.

However I'm heartened by the news that the DA who handled the investigation has just lost her highly lucrative book deal (she's a successful established crime novelist) and the Prosecutor who argued the case resigned under pressure from her tenure at Columbia last week.

I have quite enjoyed the Netflix documentary series 'Losers' about losers in sport and how it affected them. I don't like some of the presentation in the series but the stories are really interesting.

Other than that enjoying Good Omens, What we do in the Shadows and Brooklyn 99 Series 6 - Could not stop laughing at Terry's shaved eyebrows and bleached beard

New Top Gear is quite watchable; much less contrived than recent incarnations, the presenters are all quite natural/likeable and one or two genuine lol moments. Promising!

I just recently started watching Suits. Its quite fun in a dumb brain candy sort of way but I was into Season 2 before I realised Meghan Markle is in it. I didn't know anything about her other than she married Harry and disowned her dad or something and had no opinion of her either way but by god, do I hate her now?

It's a shame to see Black Mirror continue its steady decline this season. Seems Brooker likes that Netflix money a little too much.

I've started watching the BBC doco series Surgeons: Life on the Edge and it's f**king excellent.

Foxtel is now showing season 2 now however I'm on the last ep of season 1 as I'd never watched it before (only 3 eps in S1)

The skill involved is simply incredible. I've never had a problem watching graphic medical procedures and this doesn't flinch. In one instance a patient walks in looking in perfect health then leaves post-op having lost her right eye and with permanent right face paralysis (this particular case involved removal of a malignant cancer tumor in the right eye socket which basically involved removal of half the bone structure beneath her face, which they then rebuilt using part of her hip bone as a brace to support the face once again). It's also about the incredibly brave acceptance of this as a consequence of prolonging her life, of which there are no guarantees going in.

Then there's the lady with the 22kg sarcoma squashing her internal organs.

Highly recommended.

Why? She was hot as f**k in those seasons, one of the main reasons (along with the switch off your brain style) I watched the show back then.
