Shows I've watched in the last 6 months

Succession - great, really makes you get a feel of the ultra wealthy lifestyle 8/10
The Boys - my favourite I think. Just ridiculous fun 9/10
Star Trek Picard - Total poos, avoid like the plague. Good if you want to feel depressed 2/10
Beforeigners - Time travel series I stumbled upon on HBO. Decent 6/10
Futureman - kinda ridiculous fun 7/10
The Witcher - really enjoyed it, I do like the games though 8/10
Outsider - Very good, I'm enjoying it so far 8/10
Stranger Things Season 3 - meh, lost its magic 5/10

Cheers for posting, enjoyed that. A bit lamey cliche at times but I'm a sucker for time travel stuff and there were some proper funny bits too. Plus the viking cop chick is hot as fudge.

Hopefully gets another season.

I'm doing Buffy the Vampire Slayer again. Love me some Whedon.

I'd love to go through Buffy again (fnarr), but there are just too many episodes.

Ah you can skip the last 2 tbf, but, yeah that's still 100 odd eps. You'd be surprised how many you can squeeze in, though.

Did Firefly last year, it's always bittersweet as it just leaves me craving more, knowing full well that there isn't any :((

At least they closed off the story with Serenity. The bigger budget and more violence is good, but it always leaves me sad at the end.

Curb your Enthusiasm
The Kominsky Method
Fleabag

All 3 have fantastic writing and excellent acting.... NOW get on your sofa and give one of a go.....

The Kominsky method looks to have good reviews. But doesn’t sound appealing at all.

A bunch of old guys talking slowly with crackly voices. An acting teacher.

Someone sell it to me.

The boys is great but I don't know why they didn't rewrite butchers character as being from NZ because Karl Urban accent is terrible

I assumed he was doing some weird Aussie Aussie Aussie you're accent, but then it would be full of hackneyed mockney bits.

Reminded me of his character in Thor.

Homelander is also a kiwi and his accent (to my ears) sounds flawless American. In my mind I just think of Butcher as a Brit that was raised in NZ otherwise it's too hard to my ears.

Also, Queen Maeve is Irish. Seems to have a reasonable neutral American accent to my ear.

I think she'd be better with her natural accent, given that the character she's named is from Irish mythology.

Yeah apart from Homelander I don't see why they even need to fake the accents. Small criticism of an otherwise great show.

Ah yeah. Just nitpicking things that didn't actually have any effect on my enjoyment of it.

I found it amusing how much the main Supes are rip-offs of popular Marvel/DC ones.
Homelander is clearly Superman+Captain America
Queen Maeve has more than a bit of Wonder Woman about her.
Deep is Aquaman.
A-train is the Flash.
Black Noir has a bit of a Black Panther/Batman feel to him, IMO.

Who else is there?

I said this earlier in the thread but I think it's 100% on purpose, I they even mock in within the show in later episodes.

Yeah love it, ‘what happened to Kim’ has been a burning question since Series 1 tbf

Current season of Homeland is as good as ever - ramping-up the drama this week!

That was intentional.

The main writer of the comics, Garth Ennis, used to work for for a publication that was affiliated with DC and developed The Boys as a darker, grittier deconstruction of The Justice League...in a bit of a "what-if" parallel universe. DC wasn't comfortable with the anti-superhero tone being linked to their marquee characters, so he was granted the rights to publish the series, but he also had to change the names of the heroes, but their respective powers and such remained pretty similar.

I'm sure that this has been covered before but I only just started The Marvelous Mrs Maisel (wife got a subscription to Amazon Prime to watch Picard).

It is really very good. I must admit that I expected to hate it but it is very tightly written, a throwback to vintage Woody Allen.

We got to the end of the season but it was a struggle and included 2 lengthy breaks.

Are you talking specifically to season 3 or in general?

I thought the first two seasons were fun. Not great, but easy to watch and kind of likable. But I just can't on season 3.

Thanks for the confirmation, I dipped out after ep 4. It was like a completely different show at that point. Odd.

best way to do it or if they give 2 seaosn, the first seaosn will be shit and 2nd even shittier....GoT is a good example, they gave it 3 seasons in advance and the last 2 seasons was unwatchable..

Just watched the first 2 episodes of War of the Worlds on Fox. Good and tense. Worth a watch.

The only strange thing for me is a some of it was filmed in Cardiff, was odd seeing the closed Toys R Us store in Cardiff Bay stand in for a French Hypermarket in Grenoble complete with mountains in the background

Yeah Jon Hamm is a great foil for Larry and it felt like classic curb with LD and Leon scheming (with an actual good idea for a McJob with the “need a piss break” app) and Larry getting to bang her from Always Sunny.

But this season is so stuffed with celebrity cameos that it’s distracting. They had Vince Vaughan, Clive Owen, Borat’s missus and Fred Armisen is just one ep. Unless he can go back to something high concept (like the Seinfeld reunion) or ridiculous farce (every great episode ever) it’s going to be a bit of a flat season.

I suppose it’ll be his last season - he looks very frail - all the celebrities are trying to get on it before it finishes for good.
