Mando, the outer rim littlest hobo, travelling the galaxy helping strangers.
Waited the entire first season for the show to get good, the last episode had some great moments.
When I found out that episode was directed by Taika Waititi I figured it was safe to assume in future it would be returning to its boring, wooden self

Stephen King can do a great build-up, I'll give him that. But his endings can be so disappointing.
Agree with that... follow-on sequels got cancelled btw

Stumbled on a quirky dark comedy-drama spy thriller series on Prime recently, called Patriot. It tries too hard to be quirky at times, but I'm hooked. Worth a go folks, it's pure Marmite though.

Just started watching Good Bird Lord with Ethan Hawke, it follows the last years of the American abolitionist John Brown. Quite quirky, Hawke is brilliant as is the support cast. Feels Tarintino-esque in parts, violent and funny.

How f*cking good was that last series??? That show started okay but I gave up in season 3. Decided to give it another chance and it just went up multiple gears until the end.

Keri Russell is very good in her role, but Matthew Rhys is the dog's bollocks. I would watch him take a shit.

Green Mile film is further proof that King struggles with his finishes.

I’ve just finished season 2 and finding it hard to keep going with it too - it’s just too ridiculous. Like you can suspend your disbelief for a while but watching a 50kg woman beat the shit out of two armed special agents last night, then watching two handcuffed spies beat up and then shoot a navy seal, I think they’ve got a bit silly. It’s just ridiculous. Will still finish it out but it’s more along the lines of the A Team than a serious box set.

You trolling me? It’s part good, part terrible. Episode 4 of Season 2 was a real low point. No surprise this b grade actor directed it...

Image

An utterly lame siege on an Imperial base. Why must they make Mando look like a rank amateur come combat time? Let alone the incredibly weak supporting cast of a non acting wrestler and a bloke that had his arm blown off early in Predator and had previously directed an episode of Renegade starring Lorenzo Lamas. Only good bit was the speeder bikes descending the mountainside.

Littlest Hobo Mando, helping strangers on his quest to deliver “the child”.

I watched the first season of the Mandalorian over the summer and didn't really get it.
It's completely inoffensive with the occasionally interesting character and bits of plot. The whole "sidequest of the week" aspect to it didn't really do much for me and I fully fell asleep through some of the episodes.

Am I missing something or is it simply that it's something not shit set in the Star Wars universe and we get to see dessert planets, bounty hunters, blasters going pew-pew-pew, spaeships, aliens etc?
Season 2 more of the same?

Jesus Christ the last 2 episodes of The Mandalorian is the best Star Wars I’ve seen in 40 years. First Rosario Dawson as Ashoka Tano and last week Tem Morrison killed it as Boba Fett returned.
Astonishing and mega lore building.

Episode 4 was about as bad as it gets. 5 wasn’t as bad, but you’re well overdoing it. Although Sammy Hagar spun your wheels, so your standards are obviously set very low. I’ll watch 6 tonight. Thanks for the spoiler.

It was a "who dunnit" without a "who dunnit" and even by the low standards of TV, the court scenes where laughably bad.

As crappy as some of the stormtrooper fighting was, Robert Rodriguez is a far better director than Carl Weathers (ep4). Still, one of the great sci-fi characters, Boba Fett. Loved for barely 10mins screen time in the original trilogy, once again ruined courtesy of Tem f**king Morrison. Painful.

First season is worth sticking with. Decent bit of whodunnit mixed with White House politics. Don't bother after that. Once they solve the big mystery of the first season, it just becomes yet another meh White House drama without anything particularly going for it.

Everyone looking forward to The Watch starting in January? Each time the channel, producers or writers tweet something about it there is a tsunami of Pratchett fans ripping them apart for their ‘shameless exploitation’.

Trailer looks good, though. I mean, they’ve shit all over Pratchett but I like to think there could be some redeeming qualities.

I watched 13 Commandments on All4 (I think it's on Netflix as well).

It was slow but enjoyable. It did leave a lot of threads dangling as though there might be a season 2; however they pretty convincingly closed out the main story line so I'm not sure where they could go.

Mando is so disappointing. Nothing in it. I'm fed up with these american bullshit.
What would be your favorite non american top series ? Here are some I really appreciated and highly recommand :

Italian :
• Gomorra
• Suburra
French :
• Le bureau des legendes
• Engrenages
German :
• Babylon Berlin
• Generation war
Norwegian :
• Occupied
Spain :
• La casa de papel
UK :
• Peaky blinders
• Wolf hall
• Sherlock
• Downtown abbey
• The state
• Rome (not sure it’s 100% UK but the producer is)
Have to admit though the unequaled ability of the US to provide western series, as “Hell on wheels” or “Deadwood”.
What do you think ? Any other refreshing suggestions ? Do you have something local in NZ or Australia ?

Occupied is not that bad, and I needed something "exotic" in my list. But I agree, it's not a masterpiece.

I wondered how they rattled off a whole series of The Mandalorian so swiftly amid a global pandemic. I’m sure this is going to prove a seismic shift in film production. Whatever you think of the show, fair play to Favreau...

La casa de papel ("Money Heist") is a must watch, imo.

Just finished Los Minions de Midas (the Minions of Midas), which was well acted and explored an interesting theme but weirdly kind of missed the mark on being great. The material was there, but it didn't finish as well as it started. Still quite good and only 6 or 8 episodes.

I'll add Braquo (season 1 only) to the good French shows. And Mr Inbetween to Australia.

Casa de Papel - heard great things about it so started watching (season 1 of about 6) and thought it was a bit shit so gave up after about 4 episodes... from when does it start getting good?
