It isn't a conscience vote.

So yes, she pretty much can really.

One or two could possibly cross the floor, but doubt it would happen for something as pointless as making it legal.
It’s a referendum. She’ll have no idea what they vote.
They still have to pass the bill after.
Not what she’s talking about though is it?
No idea

There is no link to a quote of the context.

Just assumed she meant no to the bill as that is the only thing she has control.

If you don’t know, probably better to ask/google than make assumptions.

It'll be community transmission in Chch. They won't be doing such a late presser for anything else.

Fark! I was driving to Auckland to stay with family on Friday night and then fly to Queenstown on Saturday morning. Since the lockdown is only until midnight Friday I guess I can drive straight to Auckland Airport Saturday morning. :uhoh:

I would put short odds on the three days extending.

Damn. It was good while it lasted. Not sure whether people will be so willing to commit to restrictions this time around, given some of the silly behaviours seen in similar situations elsewhere.

From what they said I did read between the lines one of the people might work somewhere busy.

They specifically mentioned "one workplace" without going into details.

Might well be an airport, with all the domestic travel now happening.

Ardern said more than one workplace was involved, and it wasn't just one distinct suburb in Auckland that was likely affected.

Following on Stuff:
Bloomfield said they're not concerned that these cases are linked to the person who tested positive on arrival in South Korea.
I had forgotten about that guy. How long ago was that, about two weeks? I really hope there isn’t a connection given the time scale.

Right through lockdown level 4 Dr Bloomfield kept assuring us we didn't need masks. Now masks seem to be all the rage.

If I am permitted to travel to Auckland and fly out of Auckland Airport on Saturday I'll definitely be wearing a mask ( which I bought online during lockdown).

Good swift action. This is how it's supposed to work.
Let's hope community spread ties to Auckland only and the rest of the country can revert back to level 1 asap while Us JAFFA's knuckle down and smack covid over again in time for Sunday after next.

Bugger

Anyone else a bit cynical that the COVID ads ramped up 2 days ago .. and we were told to buy masks .

Yet we were lauded in the international press for our 100 day free ...

Then the very next day ... Looks like a jack up , I seriously hope not
I really want us to be world leaders in this .
No one here will lock down again .

Probably a good idea to tbf.

If we nuke Greater Auckland now then it also means 1 1/2 million less people to try to protect.

And we can rebuild it in a few thousand years with a decent transport network.

"The team of 3.5 million" also slips of the tongue easier

So a week or so ago we get Ashley saying it’s a question of when not if, then we get told to stock up on masks, followed very shortly by this...hmmm

Feck. We were discussing just the other day on the Melbourne thread how their situation was highlighting how fragile our situation was.
