Think they're keeping Eli because the alternative is much worse: admitting he's done and you're at square zero of having to find a new QB to rebuild everything around, which may mean 3 or so years of nothing.

Eli got a pass for last year as everyone blamed everything on the coach. Gonna be harder this year to do that.

Pretty sure Eli is done. They will draft whoever they think is the best replacement anyway.

I would trade OBJ for a high first rounder and some other decent picks.

He’s about to wear out his welcome in NY and I’d let him be someone else’s problem. Draft a QB and try get Nelson.

All in with the Rams' plan... once you get a competent qb on a rookie deal buuuuuuurn all the cash and strike.

Absolutely no idea what OBJ's trade market would be. Injury, personality and contract concern but then he's an offence in himself.

If the Giants trade Beckham, it makes that Super Bowl commercial look even more bizarre in hindsight.

The Giants have #2 pick, they could trade down for multiple picks - such as trade that pick for ALL of Arizona's.

Rams all in for 2018. Trade their 1st rounder (#23) to the Patriots for Brandin Cooks.

So Pats have 2 1st rounders and surely are looking to draft Brady's heir. Given neither of their picks is likely to be high enough to take one of the real stud QBs they will either be trading up or they will have their eye on some no-name kid who Belicheck turns into a star.

Rams now have no draft picks until the 3rd round (then a ton in the 4th and 6th). I guess we'll make do with re-treads at LB. We also need to resign Cooks since he has 1 year left on the rookie contract (can franchise for a second I guess) but resigning him should be a heck of a lot cheaper than OBJ.

Overall I think this might be better deal for us than OBJ. Less stress on the cap down the line, a much better ego (Cooks is a consummate pro by all accounts & we've added enough hot heads already this offseason). He's an upgrade on Watkins and should compliment Woods and Kupp very nicely indeed. We also probably gave up less than OBJ would have taken to acquire.

So for the Giants, the most likely trade partner for OBJ is gone and I would assume that the other rumour (Gronkowski getting dealt) is also now clearly not going to happen (if it was ever more than media BS).

Will be interesting to see what the 49ers do. They've also been rumoured to be interested in OBJ and given the rebuilds in Seattle and Arizona and the excitement surrounding Jimmy G, they must fancy themselves as our competition for the West.

a Patriots - Browns trade around the 2018 NFL Draft makes some sense...

Patriots to trade a bunch of picks to Cleveland so they can take Darnold at #1

They just let a better QB go in Jimmy G. Makes no sense. The Browns would do it, but not gonna happen.

They didn't "let" him go.

Belichick was forced to get rid of him on the instructions of Kraft.
Who was (allegedly) pushed by Brady.

Watch the video, Belichick doesn't go into a game without a Plan B, never mind a season.
He needs a QB - urgently.

Don't be surprised if they vault up into the QB scramble, although getting to #1 seems an extraordinary reach.
And giving away the first QB pick in the draft is just the sort of dumb thing the Browns traditionally do...

Per Peter King (yeah, I know)
Once you realize the Patriots, as of today, are in the bottom half of the league (and probably the bottom third) in cornerstone players for the next three to six seasons, you realize what a huge draft this is for the franchise. If McDaniels indeed succeeds Belichick when the legendary coach decides to retire—I’m betting Belichick has two or three years left—it’s the kind of draft McDaniels will appreciate the day he takes the job. Certainly, some of McDaniels’ success or failure in the coach’s chair depends on what happens with this year’s picks. New England has the 23rd and 31st picks in round one, and the 43rd and 63 picks overall in round two. Then they have but one choice in the next three rounds.

I would be surprised if the Patriots packaged some of the draft choices, or a high one this year and next, to move up for a quarterback. First: They don’t have the ammo to move up for one of the top ones; the top four will likely be gone in the top 10 picks, and maybe in the top five. Second: Their needs elsewhere are too acute to go all-in for a quarterback this year. So, barring a big surprise, the Patriots won’t mortgage these picks to move up for a passer.

Yeah I really don't see something like that happening. Still think Josh Allen if you go QB at 1 or Saquon... could trade #1 if they could still grab Allen #4 though.

The Pats made Matt Cassel a starting level QB. They can pick somebody up in the lower rounds to develop and take over.

Whoever plays after Brady is going to be on a hiding to nothing regardless.

I'm perfectly happy not being in the shoes of the 2nd rounder they get for Jimmy

Anyway their D is talentless so spending the farm on one of the qbs really hurts Brady's hopes of closing out with another.

It's great for the league that they're somewhat vulnerable at last.

We thought that last September and they nearly won another SB. I would never count them out with Belichick in charge.

Huh? Last year the talk was 19-0 especially after that off season.

They are contenders and the AFC does not look good. But they are talent deficient in a lot of spots.

They started 2-2 and their defense was leaking like a sieve. There was serious concern that the wheels could fall off but they then went and won the next 8 games in a row.

Belichick just fixes shit, all the time. Nothing is ever really broken with him in charge as he'll figure a way out to patch over the cracks and get the team winning. Having Brady helps out an awful lot tbf. I'm hoping he sticks around a couple of years after Brady retires to see if he can get that team to a SB.

They've got $9M of cap space left, Colts have $61M - and Andrew Luck would appreciate it.

The more I watch on Saquon, interviews etc, the more I think the Browns need to draft him. Not just a superstar on the field but humble with a great attitude. Cleveland fans will love him.

ESPN saying Brady yet to commit to playing in 2018. I know it's probable he will, but oh what a hoot if Brian Hoyer is QB1 at Foxboro next season.

The schedule comes out later today.

I'm hoping for some favourable Green Bay games around Thanksgiving to make a plan. Then we'll be cashing in a favour and making the trip to Lambeau.

The Jaguars are putting a dog park in their stadium for next season

Stuff like that and the pools are gimmicky but IMO they are some decent outside the box ideas to get more fans through the gate, in a city with a low population and only a short history of having an NFL team.

Apparently.
All bets seem to be off, Baker Mayfield will go #1 to the Browns in about 75 minutes.
Spoiler: show
Pricks
At least I don't have to wait quite so long for the Raiders this season... looking for Bradley Chubb or Minkah Fitzpatrick to somehow fall to #10.
Although there's a lot of talk that we'll look to trade back to later in the first in exchange for extra picks.

Still hoping we go after Roquan Smith or Tremaine Edmunds, there will be decent CBs available in the 2nd Round and good DT's into the 3rd.
Could probably do with addressing RT by the 3rd/4th round as well. WRs can wait.

Oh, and we need a punter...

Oh and some team has dug up old racist tweets from Josh Allen when he was still in High School - hoping he'll take a tumble down the board to where they can get him cheap.

I would just point out that Allen went to a public high school in an area that's mostly poor and Hispanic. It's possible that's just how he talked among his friends. I don't know the back story but it seems like a cheap thing to do on draft day.

Saints could move up. They've been making a lot of calls to other teams according to Rap

No one can agree who for. Maybe Baker, Chubb, Roquan... Lamar

Biggest needs: TE, DE, LB...future QB
