CJ Henderson to the Jags at 9. Good pick.

Kinda surprised Tristan Wirfs is still on the board.

Bucs trading up for Wirfs. This is a steal at 13.

Probably should be. TV advertising dollars have fallen off a cliff the past month, and no one is being hurt worse on ratings than the sports networks.

So... after taking maybe the fastest WR in the draft the Raiders take maybe the fastest CB in the draft.

Scratch that, Murray gone

Now let's see them pick Swift or something random....

It's Ryan Ramczyk all over again. They do know what they're doing with the o-line... but we have a good young centre already...

They must still believe in Kiko Alonso...

This is a pretty deep draft. Still lots of impact players on the board. Epenesa, Winfield, Dobbins, Kmet are all guys I think will do well at the next level.

Weird pick. Obviously Wentz has had injury problems but it seems like bad luck more than anything.

Last two picks Epenesa to the Bills and Dobbins to the Ravens. A couple of steals. Both should have an impact next year on good teams.

Yeah he’s solid and so is the TE they got.

Ravens the clear day 2 winners but after them the Saints did as well as anyone. Colts up there too.

Saints vs Bucs the new NFC South rivalry for sure

For me, overall draft winners are Ravens, Colts, Cowboys. Cowboys got a couple of guys on day 3 (Biadasz and Anae) that can become starters early on. Colts got Eason at a point where it was worth it to see what he can develop into. Having a couple of seasons to learn behind Rivers is ideal for him.

Packers = wtf. Didn’t address any areas of need.

Now the draft makes sense... Saints just cut Larry Warford to save 7 mill

Made the pro bowl every season with us and he's only 28. Someone will snap him up quick

NFL's Deandre Baker and Quinton Dunbar surrender after robbery charge

Baker allegedly took out a gun before he, Dunbar and another man - described as wearing a red mask - started taking valuables and cash from people.

The man in the red mask is not fully identified in the reports. Baker allegedly asked this person to shoot one witness, but the red masked man did not do so.

All three then made off in separate vehicles - a Mercedes Benz, a Lamborghini and a BMW.

Kansas City agree a TEN year deal with Patrick Mahomes!
$450 Million (possibly over $500M with incentives)

Makes the Dak situation look like chicken feed.

And Chicago traded up to grab a QB at #2 in that year's draft - Mitch Trubisky

Actually I think it makes Dak the smart one - there’s now a new standard for QF contracts for him to negotiate for next year. He’d look a proper mug if he’d signed something like 110million over three years with 90 guaranteed or something.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that Dak is the one that has made the serious missteps in that negotiation process - it's the Cowboys that have put themselves in a Cousins-esque situation, except in this case the Cowboys actually know they want to keep him long term (unlike Washington with Cousins).

Mahomes deal is pretty good for the Chiefs (as well as for him) - they basically have him locked down for the majority of his career, but they also have "outs" every year or two if things go pear-shaped. Still a lot of money to have tied up in one player though - I think the best Superbowl windows these days appear to be with good QBs who are still on their rookie contracts (or top-draw QBs willing to play on "unders" like Tom Brady). Unfortunately drafting first round QBs is very hit-and-miss.

Someone like Derrek Carr has ended up being the absolute worst strategy - not good enough to be a genuine SB threat during his rookie contract (at least with the team that was around him - might have been different if he was in an excellent team), but good enough to be given a high-level contract as a "franchise" QB, thus soaking up a huge amount of cap for mid-level performance.

Zach Banner earned a new fan today. Actually met him about 6 years ago when he played for USC and he was a class act then and is obviously still a class act today.

NFL Players opting out of the 2020 season, the list is building.

https://www.espn.co.uk/nfl/story/_/id/2 ... -full-list

Most notable, New England have lost 6 - 3 of whom are starters.
OT, Safety and LB Dont'a Hightower.
That means NW have lost their entire LB corps since last season.

Philly and Green Bay both signed a new WR in free agency (Marquise Goodwin & Devin Funchess).
Both have now opted out.

Just about all of the players have health issues (usually cancer) either in their family or their own previous record.

The odds of a 2020 season going ahead seem to be slipping by the day.
America's Covid problem is getting worse, not better.

Great to see football back again! The new Madden was a nice warm-up but it doesn't match up to the real thing. KC 34-20 over Houston.

Loved seeing CEH going to work for the first time in the Chief's backfield. 138 yards and a TD. Combining him with Mahomes and the existing receivers as part of a fast, high-scoring offense is scary enough for other teams, but it was surprising to see a ball control game by KC. Before it turned into garbage time the Chiefs had a 12 minute possession advantage as they ran it way more than Andy Reid typically does. The Chiefs already look mid-season in terms of the offensive control and accuracy. On the other side of the ball the defense played really well through the first 3 quarters and that was without their two best cornerbacks. The issue for other teams going forward is that if defenses only leave 6 in the box then CEH can burn them... if they put 7 in the box then more of of Hill or Kelce or Watkins will be in single coverage. They'll need really good, really reliable man-to-man to nullify every part of the Chiefs' offense.

I thought Houston looked a bit rusty and really missed Hopkins. Even double-teamed he used to offer Watson an consistent outlet that the replacement receiver committee didn't offer. Watson scrambled around a lot trying to save himself from sacks but we didn't see many planned runs for him. I was intrigued to see Duke Johnson running so well, esp in the first half. The trade that brought him to Houston was ridiculed with DJ regarded as being past it. Early days this season but he looked good.

As for the Chiefs' fans that booed some of the pre-game BLM activities, grrr. Sorry, this shouldn't be a discussion point in this thread. We're here for the hits, the runs, the tackles, and the passes. My apologies.
