My own opinion is that they're Steelers light. Mainly rely on their defence but don't have even a third of the firepower of Steelers in offence. On the other hand they are winning games. Their two games against Packers have become a whole lot more interesting after last night.
I rate the Bears as a playoff team because:
a) half the league is a bit shite and they're not
b) their defence is playing really well and their offence is good enough to win four to five more games and make the playoffs.

I'd say that any playoff team from the NFC West would beat them (also Buccs & Packers) so they will be one-and-done.

As you say, they are winning games (Trubisky won all three starts, even if he only finished two of them!) and you can't take away those wins.

Chiefs beat the Bills in a game that should never have been close judging by the stats.
460 yards vs 200. Chiefs had the ball 37 minutes.
They had the ball for 245 yards and held Josh Allen to 122 yards through the air - half of that on a late scoring drive in the 4th Q

Like the Bears, the Bills will make the play-offs on the back of these early wins (and a pretty good side, it has to be said).
Not contenders, however.

Chiefs vs Titans or Steelers right now - Baltimore look a bit too "finesse" at the moment for Big Boy Football in the post-season.

Good God the NFC East sucks

I'd be surprised if the division winner reaches .500

I get the feeling that Ravens learned what Chiefs learned two years ago. No point being sky high in regular season and giving good film to teams for the play offs. All you need to do is get to the playoffs and then up your game. I wonder what the odds of them going 1-2 against Steelers this year and making the Super Bowl are.

AFC play offs are going to be vicious. NFC will be equally competitive but not sure the standard will be as high.

Yes, the NBA Eastern Conference of the NFL: largest fanbases, still suck on the court/field

It's quite the trick to pull off with their division setup. Someone out of the 4 has to be best, and you have 6 division games. The best team if it's pretty mediocre parity will be something like 4-2, which requires going 3-7 in the remaining games.

Seahawks did it in 2010.

How do they decide who plays whom each season ? I get the 4x4x2 conference & divisions , but how do they decide who plays who for the rest of the games & preseason ? Does it change year on year ?

Yup, rotates on a yearly basis through all 4 divs in opposite conference.
The league’s 32 teams are split into two conferences — the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC). The 16 teams in each conference are split into the East, North, South and West divisions; every division has four teams.

Here’s a breakdown of how each team’s opponents are set:

Six games against divisional opponents — two games per team, one at home and one on the road.
Four games against teams from a division within its conference — two games at home and two on the road.
Four games against teams from a division in the other conference— two games at home and two on the road.
Two games against teams from the two remaining divisions in its own conference — one game at home and one on the road. Matchups are based on division ranking from the previous season.

To follow up, when they had the 3 division per conference setup, there'd be 5 teams per division. So when you were setup to play another division, you'd only ever play 4 of them based on where each team finished in their division the preceding year. So it worked out occasionally that a couple teams from opposite conferences would go 10-15 years without playing one another. With the present setup, it's guaranteed you'll play every team in your conference not in your division once every 3 years (and possibly more), and every team not in your conference once every 4 years. I'm not that big a fan of the 8 division setup as with only 4 teams per division it encourages the super mediocrity of certain divisions with usually at least 1 every year. At the same time, it's completely taken the random nature out of scheduling, with only 2 of the 16 games being based on preceding year's performance, where it used to be at least 4 out of 16 and maybe more.

If the outside of division games are based on previous ranking , how can you be sure your play all every 3-4 years ?

As an example the NFC West will play the other NFC divisions once every 3 years and play the AFC divisions once every 4 so the longest the Seahawks (say) can go without playing the Cowboys (for example) is 3 years and the longest without playing the Patriots is 4. If ever the Seahawks, Saints, Vikings and Eagles (again for example) consistently finish in the same position in their own divisions they could play each other every year.

Ah. So they rotate the ‘other divisions you play just one game against ‘ bit ?
Makes sense I suppose, you kind of end up with your derbies within the division games (year in year out 2 games) and your outlier teams you just play the once (playoffs and preseason excludes)

Does seem just a way of ensuring one weaker team from four has a chance of a wildcard though - but needlessly complex like most things American tbh. 32 teams in total would split nicely into 2 leagues of 16 teams , so 15 regular season games each , with top two through to league finals, next teams into playoffs for the other league final. The two winners of the league final go to superbowl, so 17-18 games in total, same as now.
To rotate the leagues you could split them into alternate years odds & evens in ranking, AFC getting Super Bowl winners and 3,5 so one one year, and runner up, 4,6 etc the next. (To prevent any perceived league superiority)

A couple of stats from watching Cowherd's take on this weekend:

1) The battle of the "best young coaches in football", i.e. Kyle Shanahan vs Sean McVay: when Shanahan has Garappolo - he's 4-0

2) When Aaron Rodgers falls behind in a game (even is just by 1 point) he has a losing record in those games

That sounds like a Cowherd stat.

Kind of guy that's only one step better than Stephen A. IMHO.

Didn't realize Ebner was with the Giants now. Actually getting some snaps on defense as well

I see Daniel Jones was about to score an 88 yard rushing touchdown but tripped over his own feet in the final 10 yards. What a cripple fight

That run was fantastic :D

Extremely entertaining cripple fight. Poor Wentz has absolute dog shit around him. I acknowledge he is fierce inconsistent but he's some man to keep on putting his body on the line.

Raiders now have their entire Offensive Line in COVID protocols after Trent Brown tested positive (and there are suggestions he removed his tracking device).
4 of them could play on Sunday - if they pass a COVID test on Sunday morning...

Buccs vs Raiders has been switched out of the Sunday night TV slot (in case the game gets cancelled / postponed) so that TV will have a game to watch regardless (Seattle vs Arizona).

We could be in deep sh1t over this, we've already been fined for multiple violations of protcol (e.g. Gruden's mask, players at a function, unauthorised person allowed into the locker room etc). Sooner or later the league will move on from fines to forfeiting draft picks. The buzz seems to suggest we could be forced to play an entirely second string OL just to hammer home a point.

Against a Tampa defence that just chewed up and spat out Aaron Rodgers & The Packers.

Should it be the Steelers @ Titans, two high quality division leaders?
Or should it be the cripple fight between WTF and the car-crash that is the Dallas Cowboys?

Yeah. Big Ben has always been an underrated passer; as good as anyone if he can stay on the field. And you know the defense is always going to be there.

Zeke turns it over again!

Bobbles a catch inside deep in the red zone on the Cowboys first decent drive.
Okay, pass from Dalton was a bit behind but still it just keeps happening and it always seems to be Zeke...

Down 22-3 at halftime.

Baker Mayfield has throw 18 straight completions!
However, given he started 0-5 with a pick - I rather doubt Colin Cowherd's cock survived

Joe Burrow continues to look really impressive - stays in the pocket and makes the throw despite getting hammered much of the game.

Gronk about to set his season best in receiving yardage for the third straight week. Looks like he might be back.

Brady just threw an absolute pearl of a TD too.

Looking good for the Buccaroos.
