The Jets closed as 17-point underdogs. That means they are tied for the fourth-biggest upset in Stathead's database. Last year's Dolphins-over-Patriots game was at 17.5, as was a 1978 Baltimore Colts-over-Patriots upset. The all-time leader remains the Jets winning as 18-point underdogs in Super Bowl III.
Also due to you rarely get lines over 14 points.

Go to @nyjets and look at Jets fans' reaction to their one-letter Tweet "W."
If we're not going to land the best quarterback of a generation in the draft, at least it was because of our future RB star Frank Gore
Easily another 5 years left in him, depending on how motivated he stays when/if his son enters the league
Barring a miracle Jags win I'll be looking for a new team if the Jets are bad again next year. I can deal with the Knicks and Mets. I'm loyal to losing teams. But I can't deal with a team that knowingly blows a GUARANTEED acquisition of a generational QB.
This is the single lowest moment as a @nyjets fan. There was hope for the future. We are handed a franchise QB and we win a meaningless game. This is going to set the franchise back years. Lawrence was going to be our answer. Words can't describe this pain.

Interesting few games last two days. My take aways.

Brees looks dodgy despite an offence scoring 50+. He will cost Saints in play offs. Not sure if there's many defences in NFC that can take advantage though.

Tom looked his best against a dogshit team. They are absolutely dominant when their Oline gets parity/on-top. Can Tompa Bay keep that form in the play offs? If so, they can go all the way.

Finally, Murray's a bit of a choker. When shit needs to be won, he absconds responsibility. Throws low percentage passes to end zone that won't tarnish him if they don't come off. He got a lot of praise for Hopkins hail Mary, but that was all Hopkins. Not sure he's a super bowl in him.

God I hate this tanking mentality.
Lawrence is pretty incredible tbf. The difference he made to Clemson against ND was massive and his back up was no slouch. The Jets will rue this immensely for the next decade.

Also how did the Raiders lose that game? I took a long shot Miami bet in running and just switched it off. But my kids wanted to see the end as they liked the Dolphins logo then lo and behold they were somehow in Raiders territory with time to spare!!

Browns struggling against the Jets!!!
3 - 13 down in the middle of the second half.

Maybe worth pointing out that their entire WR corps is on the Covid list - and it shows.
Mayfield has nobody to throw to.

It was only a couple of weeks ago that the Jets finally trumped the "Butt Fumble" as the worst moment in franchise history with the Cover Zero Blitz.

And now they beat than by, er, winning a game

Having already f*cked up the chance to pick Trevor Lawrence, could the Jets now find themselves keeping Adam Gase?
How much worse can this get?

Gase can't survive surely ? One good season as an "O" co-ordinator when Manning was calling the shots anyway can't give you a career.

It did actually.

Peyton even called the Jets a couple of years ago to tell them how great Gase was and they should definitely hire him.

Given that Eli was still playing for the Giants, maybe the Jets should have smelled a rat

I got absolutely demolished, still have Beasley and the Bill's defence to play but somehow don't think I can make up the 130pt difference

Other guy has Devante Adam's, Kelce and David Johnson. And the jammy bastard picked up Jeff Wilson Jr on the waiver wire.

I had Allen and Diggs last night so had a nice 80 point cushion in the end!

I have only gotten back in to the NFL in the last 2 years but was a big fan in the 90's at the time of the Bills infamous 4 in a row. I'd love to see them go all the way

I think Kamara's familiar with the playbook by now but that's a hell of a loss.

Bit of a dud of the year for the Vikes.

However, one shining light (actually there a several) is Justin Jefferson who today broke the all-time receiving yards for a rookie wide receiver. Not a bad draft pick to replace Steffon Diggs.

NFC

2. New Orleans 11-4 - playing Carolina
3. Seattle 11-4 - playing San Francisco
4. Washington 6-9 - playing Philadelphia tonight, with the Giants win over Dallas earlier today, either Washington wins the division with a win or tie, or the Giants will make the playoffs at 6-10

One play after he'd achieved 1,000 yards (yet again) and his knee goes pop. :(

I'm glad Cleveland made it - would have been a bloody awful way to miss out when they lost their entire WR corps for the Jets game.
And I don't think they'd have beaten a Pittsburgh with Big Ben.

Wild Card Round schedule next weekend. This is the first year of an expanded 14-team playoff format, so only the top seed in each conference gets a bye, not 2 in each.

Saturday

7) Indianapolis @ 2) Buffalo, 1:05pm ET, CBS
6) L.A. Rams @ 3) Seattle, 4:40pm ET, Fox
5) Tampa Bay @ 4) Washington or N.Y. GIants, 8:15pm ET, NBC

Sunday

5) Baltimore @ 4) Tennessee, 1:05pm ET, ABC/ESPN
7) Chicago @ 2) New Orleans, 4:40pm ET, CBS
6) Cleveland @ 3) Pittsburgh, 8:15pm ET, NBC

They choose Washington and Philly for the regular season finale and then pick the hapless division winner for their Saturday night game. NBC can take their NFC East love and choke on it.

This season we almost have an NBA Western Conference vs. Eastern Conference-level lopsidedness comparing playoff teams. Miami are a better team than the NFC East division winner, the Bears, and the Rams. (They beat the Rams in a game this year, and won both their games against the Jets.)

Throw out the NFC East division because that's a disaster, but how did the Bears make the playoffs?

NFC East combined final record barring a tie in tonight's game: 23-40-1
Removing division games, so their combined final record against the other 28 teams in the league: 11-28-1

The Jets don't wait for Black Monday, firing their head coach Adam Gase tonight.

Chicago should not be in the playoffs but 6 Wildcard games is pretty juicy. Miami with Tua have no business there either, they've been riding the turnover differential all year. Yesterday was a horror show.

Rodgers is on another planet. He just dismantled the bears ilb replacement for Roquan Smith the second he arrived. Beating Mahomes to MVP at 37 is really something.

Doug Pederson being flat out accused of throwing the game.
Went for 4th and Goal from the 3 yard line (having gained 1 yard in three plays) instead of levelling the scores at 17-17. Then pulls Jalen Hurts from the game and gives the reins to a journeyman backup for the 4th quarter.

Having already left several notable starters out "injured"

Fired so far:

In season:
Texans
Falcons
Lions

Post season:
Jets
Jaguars - allegedly lining up Urban Meyer
Chargers

Still on the hot seat:
Bears - but will probably survive by backing into the playoffs
Eagles - see allegations of throwing it

I posted mine as soon as the game finished, but I knew this was coming. Being a sore loser isn't confined to Trump. What motivation would he have for throwing the game, coaches live by their results, even when they're out of the playoffs.

Bottom-line, if you have to depend on another team to win and that team has no particular motivation of its own, then you're bound for disappointment.

Go the Washington Footballs!
