Big loss. Bench has nowhere near the impact of last time out. Enough cause for concern in that even without considering the starting XV.

FFS... I was happy with my short position on France. Now hearing the Englishman is starting at 10 it's going to be some fun trying to cover this..... offers France over I need.

Huge game for Rhys Ruddock. He was found wanting against Munster. Hopefully it was just a blip and his Pro14 form can scale to the national side. He'll need to be at his best.

I mean if he lasts 15 minutes it's an improvement on the shit show from our blindside last weekend, if he makes more than zero metres and does more than fúck all in defence then even better.

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
That's not a half back pairing I thought would ever start for Ireland. Both are far too fond of running up their own holes; just watch France strip the ball and counter all day. Which is going to be very long indeed.
Anyway ... C'mon Ireland.

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Does anyone know who was captain last week after Sexton and Ryan went off? Nobody seems to be saying.

Yeah don't have much confidence in that partnership at all, hope I'm wrong.
I'm looking forward to seeing how that pack go and Dillane coming on

At least with JGP/Burns we'll have to run the ball.

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
It's been a long long time since any Leinster player was found 'wanting' when playing Munster.
Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Not quite sure what to make of that.
Well, at least Burns gets a proper chance of revenge on himself. I really hope he goes well, but that's as much positivity I can muster on that front.
Hey, at least all the players will gain some more experience.
And being experienced in an Ireland team means you can't be dropped.

Except it's the wrong players gaining experience

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Murray couldn't get fúcking injured when he was stinking up the place a year ago with Cooney in reserve. He's finally back in a bit of decent form after 2 years of dross and bam...

I struggle to think of a worse halfback pairing for us since the start of the 6N......

Not 6N but we lost to Italy (at home) with half backs of Stephen McIvor and Paul Burke in 1997

Munster A 3 Connacht Eagles 0 after 34 mins.
Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Think it's fair to say that the first choice half-back pairing at each province is stronger that the Irish one.
How have we ended up in this situation.

I'm fully prepared for a 5th place finish this season. Will that be enough to jettison Farrell? Probably not.. but maybe enough to get rid of Catt.

Not sure what all the trepidation is for, if Burns is having an off day, gainline supremo Ross Byrne can come on and save the day.
