Got to factor the opposition but yes there are a lot of exciting prospects
2023 is something we could be building well to.
Still think we are weak at 10

So this is what the team should be going forward.

1. Anyone but Ed Byrne, real position of weakness.
2. Kelleher
3. Furlong
4. Beirne
5. Henderson
6. Doris
7. Van der Flier
8. Coombes
9. Murray
10. Sexton (sigh)
11. Earls
12 Henshaw
13 Ringrose (really liked Hume today, passing was excellent and brought outside backs into the game very well. No more 12's at 13 please.)
14. Baloucoune - our most complete winger by a long way.
15. Keenan - outstanding today.

16. Herring, done nothing wrong but Kelleher is the future.
17. Anyone but Ed Bryne
18. Porter
19. Ryan
20. O'Mahony
21. Casey, showed he is worth bringing on before the 78th minute today.
22. Carbery/H Bryne, whoever isn't injured.
23. Stockdale

Thats the thing though isnt it. How many times do we see this. Experiment against the shitty team but revert back to the same old same old because of our innate conservatism.
The only one of the so called new caps that i can see being involved in autumn or next 6 nations is coombes. Not because the others are shit but this is irish rugby for you.

Kelleher should have the 2 jersey now. His to lose.
Hume was decent, better than mccloskey.
We might see them in 2027.

4 tries is 4 tries.
He got his darts sorted quickly and had a good game around the pitch, deserved MOTM

I know Coombes had a great game and was mentioned a lot, but 4 tries is always going to get you motm.

Stuart McCloskey was very good. Ball carrying excellent, ball presentation on the deck very good, passing very good. Opposition poor I know but he showed well.

Putting my selfish hat on. Munster still have an issue at outhalf I think. And Casey is a Peter Stringer type of outhalf-servant scrumhalf, rather than a halfback general himself; so as Murray winds down and he winds up; we're none the wiser at ten.

Hope I'm being overly harsh on Carbery and that he just needs to get into his groove again.

Ah no, we've the game in Vegas and an as yet unnamed Tier 2 side.

Depends on the schedule though. If we don't have NZ first up and a beating worth changing the narrative from I'd expect at least one of those for playing the first team into form.

An angry POM will get man of the match and break several teeth trying to eat it

Someone (Winnie?) mentioned earlier than he didn't think TOT was consistent enough at Ulster.

When I'm picking the Senior XV I don't actually give a flying fück about provincial consistency once I've seen a player in Green.

Can he play?
If the answer is 'YES' then stick with him.

Kelleher - outstanding
O'Toole - very promising
Baird - ditto
Coombes - fücking awesome
Casey - very, very tasty
Hume - looks a prospect
Baloucoune - all round superb

ffs!

Forgot: Harry Byrne - yes, I believe
I don't care how he looks in a shite and windy night in Rodney Parade, playing behind a 'B' pack.
I'll judge him in green.

Price is the form scrum half with the lions it would be great to see Murray rediscover his form of several years ago when he was genuinely world class but he has been far from that for years now. We have two good young scrum halves in Casey and Blade, with Doak to come through, we should be going with the younger options. If Murray discovers some form I’ll happily eat my words but his 30 minutes today were a charge down and a yellow card against 14 men.

Was at the game. Great to be back to see some live rugby even if it was surreal.

Delighted for Coombes, Hume and Baloucoune. There were others who played just as well but we had high hopes for those three and they didn't disappoint at all.

Doris was a bit of a disaster, not really like him but that's a serious negative tick for him.

Not watching the game would be his best excuse alright.

I particularly liked how he rated Doris as one of the best players on the pitch and how players who did practically nothing wrong and a lot of good got 4s and 5s.

Just bizarre.
Does Kelly actually get paid for this shyte.

Did he watch the game

Has he got an I.Q. above single figures
Not watching the game would be his best excuse alright.

I particularly liked how he rated Doris as one of the best players on the pitch and how players who did practically nothing wrong and a lot of good got 4s and 5s.
They do it on purpose to get as much engagement as possible with the article, it’s seen as a success in modern journalism it’s f**ked up

Really enjoyed that, some great young talent on show. Coombes is CJ², good work rate but excellent handling, a soft pass worth more than a carry stat. He adds a considerable amount to the team and knows his way to the try line. Balacoune is massively exciting, has great touches for someone who could be considered just a good athlete and he deserves a run against better opposition. TOT also quite intriguing, good work rate and solid skills. .

Have to admit I didn't spot TOT's performance from where I was sitting but by all accounts he had a great game. Good to hear.

From a USA perspective, what on earth were they doing picking whoever played 15 in that position? He looked, at best, more suited to centre but had the arse of a prop.

Why? Japan have shown they can play at the highest level. If Ireland getting turnover its due to better pressure by Japan who are faster in thought & getting the offload away.
More for myself I suppose, I watched NZ thump Tonga with a couple of Kiwis, took a bet from one them that Japan would beat Ireland. So ridiculous I insisted I'd only take his money if we won by more than 10.

Japan aren't that good. I refuse to believe that Irish side couldn't have won that convincingly with an effective game plan.
You really haven't a clue!
Japan have with Global Corps put money into the game due the Shogun ethic they see in rugby as well as money. Crowds at games are excellent. They are progressing with such games. Its shows.
Tonga are playing without many of their European players with mainly locals, some NZ based & those players paying their way home! Again a very limited budget hardly helped by NZRFU-being the poorest of the PIs main teams.
Fiji had with their larger budget got more players back & a bigger attendance-more money. Yet limited time together although a better performance than Tonga.
