Hope Keatley has a better year for his own sake this year. It was tough seeing a very likeable pro playing so poorly last year.

They will be joined by eight new members of the Academy; Conall Boomer, Rory Butler, Aaron Hall, Adam McBurney, Zack McCall, Tommy O'Hagan, Marcus Rea and Jonny Stewart.
Not sure have heard him mentioned as a scrum half but played on the wing against Canada A. Irish 7s player looking him up.Yer Man wrote:What's the story with Aaron Cairns?unseenwork wrote:Ulster finally announce the academy for this year:

Yup, fairly old for an academy player of course, as well as being recorded as a scrumhalf there.Yer Man wrote:http://www.ulsterrugby.com/team/academy-squad.phpunseenwork wrote:Not sure have heard him mentioned as a scrum half but played on the wing against Canada A. And he is currently* listed in the Academy squad along with the 18 other players named above...

They used do it.grimoald wrote:Highlights don't come out till after they are aired on Sky on Sunday.
I'd say it has nothing to do with Sky's rights and everything to do with the Pro12 not paying someone themselves to edit and upload a highlights package.

Just stick him in the backrow and see if it works out, dear god we really don't need another centre, especially with another prodigious talent like Hume coming through.
I'm fairly sure it's not, was another of the lads who played against Canada and he looked really rather big (more lanky than McCloskey of course).Yer Man wrote:unseenwork wrote:Was trying to figure out why another centre was added to the academy in the form of Rory Butler, turns out he's 6ft5.

So a height of 1.98 isn't a mistake!
In all seriousness, McCloskey could have been a number 8.
Just imagine a backrow of Henderson + Coetzee + McCloskey, with Olding & Marshall & Payne & Piatau in the backs...

If Munster were delaying a redevelopment for a ploughing competition you would flip your lid.

So you think its just a coincidence the IRFU found the cash for a senior appointment like Lancaster? That is the official party line but I don't believe a word of itMullet 2 wrote:He wasn't reporting to Leinster?sewa wrote:Sure he was...camroc1 wrote:Henry wasn't reporting to the IRFU, his report was to Leinster rugby.Brian9848 wrote:I imagine Henry's report to the IRFU was simple. Leinsters official spokesman G+T said that did he? Thats a surprise.camroc1 wrote:Thornley confirming in todays IT that Lancaster is a Leinster appointment, " unlike Erasmus, who was more an IRFU appointment".

O'Donnell from RBAI should be the priority to get into the academy from that side. Michael Lowry after that, then Hume, as good as he isunseenwork wrote:Was trying to figure out why another centre was added to the academy in the form of Rory Butler, turns out he's 6ft5.

O'Donnell will be for sure though of course Stewart has the edge over him as it stands, Lowry I'm not so sure, like I've said he's quite small and has had some consistency issues in the past as well as not really being the first choice place kicker in his team. Hume is a lock in, probably the top prospect of his age group and an excellent penalty taker.Ulsters Red Hand wrote:O'Donnell from RBAI should be the priority to get into the academy from that side. I would rather O'Donnell than Stewart. Hume is a huge prospect but there really is no need for him, he wouldn't get near the first team for a few years, if he bothers to stick around for that longunseenwork wrote:O'Donnell will be for sure though of course Stewart has the edge over him as it stands, Lowry I'm not so sure, like I've said he's quite small and has had some consistency issues in the past as well as not really being the first choice place kicker in his team. The one thing I've speculated about is whether they might try and move him elsewhere in the backline, he potentially has the skillset for a really rather good 10.Ulsters Red Hand wrote:I would rather O'Donnell than Stewart.
