Probably have to give it to McCaw, TBF.
Are the nominees not just the various winners of the award in the last decade? Several would have won it more than once in that time. BB definitely won it twice or three times. Dusautoir won it in 2011 and is one of the most deserving winners really because it wasn't just who was the best player in the team of the year. BB for me. McCaw was already past his best by the turn of the decade.
just checked.. yes

they didn't mention that in the announcement.. talk about lazy
Pretty lazy alright. They should have started with that 8 and then narrowed it down to 5 nominees really.
Didn’t BOD win player of the 00’s without ever winning POTY?
He did indeed win the World Rugby player of the decade but at the time WR meant something different. It was a popular rugby magazine while the WR organisation was known as IRB

Ah very good.

He was nominated at least twice. Lost out to Wood in the inaugural one the was robbed by McCaw the year of the Slam. Wasn't there something funny with the way they judged it that year according to Paul Wallace? D'arcy, POC, Heaslip were all nominated before Sexton finally won it.

Player of the decade has to be Richie.
Hes up there with RoG and Axel as a player that influenced a generation of players.

Really, met him a few times and always liked him. Held in very high regard a few years back and a lot of people were pissed off with the way he was treated.
Would like to see him back involved with players that have a pathway to bigger things.

He has definitely done a lot for Ulster but don’t think it ever really worked out for him at Ballynahinch, if last season wasn’t called void they would have went down

That’ll be amateur rugby gone til at least the other side of Xmas, possibly the whole season. Not healthy for our game given that playing numbers are probably on a downward trend anyway.
I vaguely remember a discussion on here a while back discussing the cost of running an AIL club for a year. What was the figure again? There’ll probably need to be a re-think of that business model going forward.

Hasn't Ludik been your sub back 3 player for last couple of games, He is getting on a bit, is sexton not good enough to sub for the Senior team yet?
If not than the only gametime he is going to get is with the 7s.

I think there is still a place for Ludik in the first team squad. The guy is smart and reliable. He won’t sidestep 3 defenders and run a try in from 40 yards but we have other players that can do that.

Not that it mattered too much for us as the game was already won but last week the Pissprays were chasing a LBP and on the attack with a min to go 10 yards out from our line. Louis spotted the opp 9 faffing around with the ball at the base of the ruck and was all over him like a rash, forcing a knock on. It was a small thing but I doubt most of our players would be smart enough to make that turnover without f**king it up and giving up a pen.

If Exeter played some rugby it would be nice but they are what Sarries were 4 years ago

Other than that I would prefer an Exeter win given they are a proper club and any rugby fan wanting Racing to win needs to take a look at themselves

He has been sent of twice, last weekend and couple of years ago against Munster, against Munster his red card was rescinded and disciplinary panel said penalty only should have been the call.

He's been cited one other time, again disciplinary said penalty was sufficient and no ban.

This is his first ban.

I am not talking about Ludik playing in the Academy 7s, Earl was annoyed that Sexton was and I was saying that Sexton has not been in a Senior squad this year and that surely if he was any good he got make the bench in front of an ageing Ludik.
If not than he should play in this tournament to get gametime.
