There’s a lot of good to very good players in that team, but only maybe 1 world class player in Ryan.
Probably the first time we’ve been in this position since the turn of the century as we always had a BOD, POC, D’arcy, Balcony Bob (before he deteriorated), Heaslip, Sexton, Murray, Furlong (in form) etc.
Which means we are completely reliant on the coaches devising an effective gameplan. The jury is still very much out in that one but they deserve 2 seasons to get a fair assessment.

By himself? No wonder they have about 10 less caps between them than Aki does.

Huge year ahead for him. He has a genuine shot of breaking into the international scene given our fairly average options there at the moment. He certainly has the attacking and defensive game for it, and seems to have the intelligence. Just needs to keep the consistency.

I'm a big fan I have to say. Back three of Stockdale, Balacoune and Larmour, with Conway reserve. Pretty tasty.

Conway looked the best of our back three players pre Covid , with Stockdale the least impressive. Lowe will certainly be in the mix too remember.

Baloucoune Bob in Balcony Bob out

Agree Conway was out best outside back pre Covid. He was also exceptional in the air. Think he is a shoe in. Think Earl's will struggle to get a look in with Baloucoune and Lowe coming in.

Earls is 32, so we should be easing him out anyway.

Conway and Balacoune were both in flying form, and seeing as they are both right wingers I went with youth. Of course if Munster gave him some game time at 15 that would increase our options.

And until I am literally forced to accept it as fact, I wont be considering Lowe as an Irish international.

This.

3 from Larmour, Conway, Stockdale and Balacoune, with Conway covering fb, and Larmour covering 13.

Like with Lowe, I'm too selfish to share him with the other provinces. Munster fans would never appreciate him enough anyway. #provinceb4country

Yes but Conway was producing it consistently at test level , to a higher standard than Balacoune was playing at European/ Pro 14 level. It’s taken Conway a while to really fulfill his potential but now looks a well rounded , test class winger . Not sure it’s such a good idea to move him aside for the coming man
right now , especially when the other winger in the pre lockdown side wasn’t in great form and was showing issues with the defensive side of his game . I’m all for giving youth it’s chance , just make sure you’re replacing the right man . Can neither Conway nor Balacoune play left wing ?

So Baloucoune was delivering at every level he played
Pretty hard to deliver at test level if you aren’t playing a test

And whilst we have multiple Irish born wingers then Lowe should not be within as asses roar of the squad

Has been one of the best wingers in the country this season comfortably. Very few I'd swap for him the way he was playing.

I haven’t seen him doing anything in white yet that Conway wasn’t doing in green pre lockdown . He’ll certainly get his chance to prove himself, but if it is in the next international window I don’t believe it should be at Conway’s expense. Doesn’t make sense to me when you look at the options available and their most recent form ( even if you exclude Lowe from the conversation) . I look forward to seeing him play for Ireland though

Dooley out for a few weeks as well.
Crazy to have so many injuries due to pre-season although it sounds like Abdeladze's back has flared up previously.
Also, the Ryan announcement sounded strange, almost as if the shoulder injury was already there and they've only now decided to operate on it.

And what has that got to do Balacoune anyway. The guy was making Ireland squads in his first 18 months of first team rugby

He was a development player in the squad. Same as Harry Byrne and Connors. You’re not going to get brought down if you don’t have something about you
