In fairness, he could work well in France outside a "petit general" type SH.

Top young outhalves in Ireland(23 and under):

1. Harry Byrne(21/Leinster)
2. Ben Healy(21/Munster)
3. Jack Crowley(20/Munster)
4. Bill Johnston(23/Ulster)
5. Conor Fitzgerald(23/Connacht)

Bill Johnson has been decent for Ulster whenever given the chance but I’d question how his development will work out being at best 3rd choice, and at worst 4th with Lowry being given the 10 shirt.
A 2-year deal abroad might not be the worst thing for him long-term if he was guaranteed gametime.

I think he'd start to challenge Carty quickly at Connacht if he went west, but I imagine it's unlikely.

Crazy to think 4/5 are from Munster originally.

Shows how important it is to get younger players out of the nest and into jerseys if they aren’t making it. Both Fitzgerald and Johnson would both still be getting splinters at Munster. It’s often overlooked but the “drain” of coming players from Leinster squad to other provinces helps them a lot. Shit it get off the pot. Players need second chances no doubt but the trapdoor helps focus a lot.

Crowley looks super for me but very light.

Frawley would be on high on the list if he was still playing 10 regularly.

Top underage 10's:

1. Charlie Tector(Leinster) - u19
2. Cian Whooley(Munster) - u20
3. Tim Corkery(Leinster) - u20
4. Cathal Forde(Connacht) - u20
5. James Humphreys(Ulster) - u20

I thought crowley was pretty well built? He is down as 6pt and around 88kg which isn't bad for an outhalf.

Yes. Kilkenny College but from Wexford, who he played underage county hurling for. He was playing for Lansdowne earlier in the season, while only 18.

Difficult to evaluate Hawkshaw at 10, was out of game for 18 months and prior to injury was focusing on 12. He is pretty small for a pro 12 so wait and see.

They moved him from loosie because we had Healy and McGrath and now one is old and the other gone to the place where careers go to die.
problem is, if Tadgh comes back to full form, if.......
Then you're keeping a classy young starting Irish prop for Leinster or Ireland on the bench, when your choice at one is getting limited.
Bit like the old Healy, McGrath choices.
Its a tough call
I have seen too many careers wither on the vine of positional shift
What about Bent? Arrived to play TH but was definitely a better LH for the first half of his time with us. Back on the TH side now and playing great rugby.

Would agree with LC on this one, he really hasn't shown much as a 10. Very skillful player though and looks sharp defensively. He could end up a Ryan Crotty-type centre. It's a pity for him that Frawley is now seen as a 12. Speaking of Frawley hopefully he gets some mins at 10 over the coming weeks. He's still a very good outhalf and you would hate for him not to have it in his locker. It can be a bit of a use-it-or-lose-it with such a key position.

I haven't seen enough of Hawkshaw at 10 to write him off completely there, especially given his lack of game time there since leaving school.

On the bench, 19-year-old Jamie Osborne is in line to make his Leinster Rugby Senior debut should he be introduced.

The former Naas CBS pupil, who has come through the Leinster Rugby club system with Naas Rugby Club, played with the North Midlands side in the Shane Horgan Cup.

Osborne is normally based down in the Ken Wall Centre of Excellence in Energia Park but has been training with the Senior team in UCD over the last few months and is involved in a Senior matchday 23 for the first time tomorrow.

Only seen him a couple of times and looked decent going forward, there were alot of breaks through the centres in the Ulster and Munster games not sure if down to him or not.
Hope someone has told Max he is allowed to clear the ball not sure I have seen him clear the ball once in any of the games I have seen. He got isolated a number of times.
Good to see Harry back, Furlong and always enjoy watching Baird play.

What transferrable skills does being a good Hurler bring to rugby. Good hand eye co-ordination, should have good catching skills but not sure what else?
Sweetnam and TOL were good hurlers as well if memory serves correct.

True but there is no one else due to injuries, so between him and Comerford and Osborne covers more positions.

Non-intl Backs currently injured:
ROL, TOB, JOB, Smith, Silvester, O'Sullivan, A Byrne.
