Does Mark MCall have one as a player?
No
Didn't think so.
And Leo did it without cheating, proper sort.
He lifted the trophy with Humph on 1999
Did he play in that campgain?

Didn't play though

So we have 1 lad that thinks coming off the bench for the Lions doesn't make you a real Lion
And another lad that thinks a retired player that lifts a cup should be considered a winner of that cup.

If you're saying Ulster were better off without him on the pitch you may have a point.

Brian Byrne, for whatever reason, didn't train on at Leinster. He, despite some very good early showings, never threatened Tracy, never mind Cronin. And he knew what was coming up from the Academy behind him. So he decided/was helped to decide to go to Bristol, where he is now first choice. Fair dues to him I say.

It’s going to be interesting to see at what point we use our strong bench today.
As the front rows can be rolled on and off it’s not so much of an issue getting them on a bit earlier.

Killer and Furlong Can both carry, depending on how the back row is faring we might need a bit more carrying sooner rather than later. Haven’t noticed Healy making much yards of late in the loose unless I’m mistaken.

I can see Murray playing above 70 mins unless we really have to chase the game.

Henderson should be given at least a half IMO.
Maybe sub off POM for him depending on if Pete is having his big moments or not.

Sexton won’t be taken off unless injured before 70 mins so I expect Burns to get an hour in the pitch. :x

“ One side were catholic, the other protestant but at no point did any of them discuss labels or politics, not when the important issues of drinking and rugby were on the agenda. ”

“ During the ’85 Triple Crown season, there was this eve-of-match tradition began, where the forwards and backs separated for pre-match meetings, the pack heading to O’Donoghue’s on Baggot Street for pints, the backs to the dining room for tea and sandwiches.”

I’d like to think we won’t be using our bench to any great extent today tbh . Big match tomorrow and if we are to make use of our stronger replacements we don’t want to be burnt them out the day before :P

If we are keeping them fresh for tomorrow then I’d hope all the forwards are in with at least 20/25 minutes on the clock. Can’t see Sexton lasting 70 without trudging off with a big miserable scowl on his face

Ah I don't think he's first choice pretty sure that's Harry Thacker. It's clearly going well for him though and best of luck to him.

That’s a brilliant read tbf , basically Irish rugby during troubles neatly encapsulated in a short piece. They just got on with the rugby, had the craic and made great friendships. Never let the political backdrop get in the way

I’d say he’s not far off first choice now.
Was one of the issues at Leinster his size? Some of those English club packs have a few behemoths and can carry a smaller hooker.
What was his scrummaging like? Not always a top class thrower. You could see he was a good player though. Great attitude and work rate on the pitch too.
Size isn't the issue. Big guy, great scrummager.

Anyone else wish we were as willing to be bold and adventurous in attack as Italy?

Just a bit more competent obviously, dropping the ball at critical moments and then having no idea how to defend are killing the Italians.

A bit misleading... it's 2 tries each and PJ has missed a conversion kick.
Thurty six has made both.
Score 12-14 to Glaws (who are bottom of the table)

He is 5'9, 100kg. He isn't a big guy by modern front row standards. But his size was never an issue.

His issue was always his throwing. Which is now magically fixed.

50-10 now. Italy are trying a bit, but they’ve been awful in defense and prone to cockups way too soon to force much in the way of scores.

There’s been a few looks on the French defense that a good attacking coach might pick up on and try to exploit. But they have several weeks before they meet a good attack coach, so they have time to resolve that.

They did a lot of the Sean Edwards tackling anything near the ball whether they have it or not, and another referee will pick up on it and blow it up.

Heavy carriers (not one outs) hitting the line at pace. Italy starved France of the ball early on and didn’t kick.

So Murray to box kick then.
