Pitch deteriorating on day 2... I think batting is going be some work from hereon in.

350 will seem like 450, so I am very pleased at this stage.

Mental thing. No way a pitch will be like that on day 2.

Did you see the puff of dust from that Herath delivery 2 overs ago?

What do you expect from the Sri Lanka pitches? They all dusty and no way a pitch can crumble on day 2 of a test.

Yeah, I think we should rather listen to OomPB and totally disregard the opinion of Russell Arnold, who has played numerous tests at Gaul.
The pitch starting to crumble a bit here, which is not unusual at Gaul on a hot day
I will tweet him now Oom to tell him that this is not possible.

Nipper claim Vernons wicket.

Interesting stat
Vernon Philander batted for 194 and 155 mins in last Test at Cape Town without getting dismissed. Now already 103 mins in Galle. That's 452 mins not out, over 7 hours!!"

Philander goes.

Morkel to the middle.

The groundsman may not necessarily start up the roller, but it'd be a good idea to check the diesel.

392 for 8.

Eight runs to get for 400.

Sri Lanka looking to target both Duminy and Tahir, both of whom are going at around five an over or more.

"The rain break has given a wicket to South Africa. A nothing delivery."

On the contrary, I would expect it to work in our favour. Especially against Tahir.

Watching the hilights.

Amazing delivery from Philander which hits the off bail yet the bail stays on (this just after the Sri Lankan commentator saying that Philander didn't have the pace to be a threat on this track).

Someone check the stumps for chewing gum!

I see that Jayawardene's wicket means that Steyn now has the same number of wickets as the great Jimmy Anderson.

That was some clever bowling there, but pretty woeful from Tharanga, shot out way too early.

Hashim making some inspired bowling changes.

3 wickets, new ball should do the trick here. How many do they need to avoid the follow on?
