Scandies, they're all metal heads aren't they?backrow wrote:Surely that should be Finland, not Norway ?
Yep but that is deffo a Lordi rip off so should be Finnish not NorwegianWyndham Upalot wrote:Scandies, they're all metal heads aren't they?backrow wrote:Surely that should be Finland, not Norway ?
That is not a Lordi rip off it's Norwegian Black Metal bands who've been doing the corpse paint business since the early nineties.backrow wrote:Yep but that is deffo a Lordi rip off so should be Finnish not NorwegianWyndham Upalot wrote:Scandies, they're all metal heads aren't they?backrow wrote:Surely that should be Finland, not Norway ?

His facts were wrong and your picture was (probably) right. That style of corpse paint is derived from the Norwegian black metal scene (though the bloke in the helmet/armour makes me think it could be a Polish or Czech band).Wyndham Upalot wrote:Goddamit yeeb, you've taken all the puff out of my attempt at humour sails - darned pedantic factsbackrow wrote:Yep but that is deffo a Lordi rip off so should be Finnish not NorwegianWyndham Upalot wrote:Scandies, they're all metal heads aren't they?backrow wrote:Surely that should be Finland, not Norway ?
I may be wrong but most people would see that as Lordi and therefore Finland .Demilich wrote:His facts were wrong and your picture was (probably) right. Lordi were more of a rip-off of Gwar costume-wise.
Finland did have a small but excellent early 90's death metal scene though (which is where my username comes from - the band I was listening to at the time I created my account).
A surprising number of people not into the music know about Scandinavian Black Metal. It achieved a fair amount of infamy due to the church burnings and murdering of band members. Lordi/Gwar style costumes are unique enough as to basically be limited to just those two bands, there's a lot more people on corpsepaint and hilariously over the top spiky leather wrist bands. I've always found that whole scene quite silly, even more so because of how seriously many of them take it.backrow wrote:I may be wrong but most people would see that as Lordi and therefore Finland .Demilich wrote:His facts were wrong and your picture was (probably) right. If you parodied a 1970’s band with 2 women and 2 men ( one of whom with facial hair) then most people would think ABBA and Sweden and not Brotherhood of man from Uk
My comments were fair
f**king hell. The album is infamous for bearing a controversial photograph of Mayhem's singer, Dead (Per Yngve Ohlin), after his suicide in April 1991.[5] The photograph was taken by Mayhem's guitarist, Euronymous (Øystein Aarseth), when he discovered the body.[6] Dead slashed the veins in his arms and neck after leaving behind a song lyric titled "Life Eternal", along with a suicide note. He then took Euronymous' shotgun and shot himself in the forehead.
Euronymous took bits of Dead's skull and made them into necklaces for members of the Black Metal scene, including the band's drummer Hellhammer. They supposedly made a stew with the fragments of Dead's skull, which Hellhammer did not eat. In disgust with Euronymous' actions, the bass player Necrobutcher left the band and was replaced by Burzum's Varg Vikernes, who killed Euronymous two years later by stabbing him to death.
