Facebook really isn't the best forum to air your thoughts on topics that you have thought about for the first time this weekend.

Majority Muslim countries really don't have he best human rights records.
Presumably no-one's shown you the Reza Aslan video on facebook yet either

Just believe 11:11 and 11°C 😉
I am not 100% sure of which path I'm choosing, all I know and wish for though is happiness, health, love and fulfillment for myself and others. They are the top of my dreams 💜

I went to buy milk after my Doctor's appointment today. There was a loud woman stood near the side of the counter. She was trying to engage people queuing at the till into conversation. This amounted to - 'Isn't it terrible all these people killed in France.' She was jabbing her finger at a copy of The Sun on the cash desk, to reiterate the validity of her comments. Then she changed tack. 'How can we keep taking more of these immigrants into this country. It's disgusting. Germany aren't taking more and they've got loads more space. We need to keep England to the English' The assembled customers were refusing to be drawn into this, and numbered people of many ages, ethnicities and backgrounds. Most uncomfortable of them all was a man who, having heard him talking to his girlfriend, was clearly French. Finding herself ignored, she persisted with her original argument. This time, she was banging her fist on the copy of the Sun. 'What about all these young people dead. There were kiddies killed too. What can we do to stop these immigrants'. Given my current emotional state, and having sworn when she started ranting I wouldn't respond, my mouth unfortunately refused to obey. 'What about all the children and adults killed in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Kenya, Israel, Syria. You haven't mentioned them. Everyone in England is descended from migrants. We're all migrants and we need to show that we care.' Probably not my finest political speech. Luckily, I had been served by that point and could turn and walk out. I wonder if she is still there, trying to drum up Sun supporting tub thumping followers. I am tempted to print out the following poem and take it to her. But given her choice of literary sustenance, this would be a futile and wasted gesture. So, I've posted it here instead.

All things are possible? Then how come the faith healers in revivalist tents can't get old God to regrow an amputated limb? You'd think it would be a walk in the park for the All Powerful.

Show me the limb and I'll supply an Amen.

Do a search for it. It's an educated and well made response to the regular lumping in of crappy Middle Eastern states with "Muslim countries" in general. And it's been doing the rounds on FB...

Saw one of those today, a baby crawling with bandaged stumps where the hands should be and a big smiley face. "If you ignore this you have not heart" Fair enough, I think, I'm not ignoring it, it's a very moving picture. "Type Amen in the comments to show you care." Well now you've gone and evaporated all sympathy I may have previously felt for the child. I hope she enjoys trying to use the brakes on her Doc McStuffins bicycle in 8 years.

depends on your birds race.

If she is white than the answer is an immediate and forceful "no, of course not". If she is black then its "Hell yeah it does"

Cheers. Really don't hate the message he's trying to get across, people are dicks, societies can be a problem, and the religion is used as an excuse. Stoning is common enough in the bible for instance, it's just most christian countries no longer use that as an excuse to actually kill people with it (sure it can be found in some christian countries though).

HOWEVER! Religion does offer that excuse, that tool for powerful men to influence others, to make them believe that these actions are acceptable. Is it the religion itself? No, but those religious text do state that such actions are acceptable (hell, it even states they are appropriate, and it's everyone not doing them in the wrong). If we remove religion, can we remove a massive tool of manipulation that is currently used? Absolutely. Islam is just the most commonly used excuse at the moment, I've no doubt there's plenty still using christianity etc. I've never read much into Buddhism, so I've no idea if there are actually aggressive/violent parts to it, just it has better PR than christianity/islam etc.

FFS, man

A poor human rights record is not the same as murdering 160 innocents
You're right. Poor human rights records' would kill a hell of a lot more than 160 innocents.

Which Muslim countries? All of them?
