Will Tool ever release another album?

Post by L. Ron Hubbard »

In the vein of the Will the Wallabies ever win etc, do the Tool fans on the bored think the band will actually ever release another album. It's been nigh on 10 years since their last album came out FFS.

And if they do actually release it, will the likes of Danny Carey still be ale to deliver on the drums. The man has some serious skills but surely those skills must be starting to wane as he gets, well, old.

I thought they had a release pending? Wouldn't worry me either way, not as big a fan of 10,000 days as you. No doubt there'd be something worth a listen.

Apparently they've settled the lawsuit that kept out of the studio for so long and are quite a way along recording the new one. Speculation that they will announce it at Monster Mash this year.

http://www.franchiseherald.com/articles ... -album.htm

Puscifer (i.e.e Maynard) has also announced a new Puscifer album but I find the Puscifer stuff a bit shite in the main.

I had heard the release of an album had been compromised somewhat by this lawsuit...if that has been settled then perhaps we will see one this year. When they toured Aus a in 2013 they played a couple of teaser songs and they sounded pretty sweet.

10,000 days has some crackers on it IMHO...Vicarious, The Pot, Rosetta Stoned, Jambi, 10,000 Days Part II

As per most Tool albums, there were some "fillers" in there as well

No filler in Undertow or Aenima, IMO. Faultless.

I sure hope not. Normally I don't care if a shit band releases new crap, but in the case of Tool it's an issue.

Because the missus likes them.

And she'll buy the album.

Then when we're on a road trip, she'll say "Can I put my new Tool album on? It's really good!" And I'll say "No". And she'll say "Why not?". And I'll say "Because they're a bunch of whiney plum". And she'll say "Well I like them". And I'll say "That's good, but I don't want to listen to them". And she'll say "I never ask for anything, and the one time I do, you say no". And I'll say "You ask for shit endlessly - you just don't notice because I always say yes". And she'll say "You're a dick". And then I won't get a blow-job upon reaching our destination.

Tool are a bunch of cock-blocking dicks.

I can see why you're confused.

Filler is generally classed as songs that are of suspect quality to perhaps the 'singles' on an album. You've highlighted some soundbites, rather than songs, that they've thrown in for effect. Which I don't skip, save for the screaming child. Intermission marks the half way point of the album and uses notes found in the next song Jimmy which it segues in to.

I like it.

It's like someone mentioning all the filler on QOTSA Songs For The Deaf, then pointing to the radio intros :?

No confusion - just look at it differently to you

Filler to me is something that is not worth listening to (note I didn't include Message to Harry Manback and Die Eir Von Satan) - regardless of whether it is a song or a soundbite.

The fillers on 10,000 days are similar to the fillers I have listed above

Gotcha, it's not the wider interpretation though.
album filler
When a band releases an album where there's only a couple good songs, and they need more to make a whole album, so they make crappy songs knowing they aren't that great just to complete the CD since you need at least around 8 songs for a good CD.
Die Eir Von Satan is a song in it's own right, IMO. And a f**king great one.

Exactly, I agree. Thus the reason it is not filler ;)

Re the definition, i see filler as a track (whether it be a song or soundbite) that is added in to make a whole album

Yes, I understand your wacky interpretation. Doesn't make much sense though, claiming a masterpiece like Aenima contains filler.

Of course its got filler - i just listed 4 examples of that.....just because my interpretation doesn't align with yours o infallible one doesn't mean its wacky

It also doesn't detract from Aenima as an album - its a killer album

I think I heard somewhere that they were in the process of settling on artwork, which sounded promising.

Red Sparowes for anyone searching. Wasn't aware of them, feature Bryant from Isis, so will check them out

Speaking of Isis, here's a quality track of theirs featuring Justin Chancellor of Tool Altered Course

I've been listening to a fair bit of Spotlights recently...

Faith - Cure Cover

The Particle Noise

Spotlights Live

For those that didn't know Tool released their entire back catalogue onto streaming services a few days ago.

Also they are releasing a new song from the album Fear Inoculum tomorrow.

Also proof if any were needed that kiwis have impeccable taste in music:

had the "Every Red Heart" 2xLP but it got a bit dull

ISIS guys have a new band called SUMAC. Bit more experimental with a hyperactive drummer (not sure that always works) but wow the linked track lead me to splurge on two of their LP's

this WHORES track has a lot of old TOOL about it
