Does anybody on here has ever heard of a Brooklyn rock band named PIGS?

I was at a halloween party on saturday evening and started chatting to those two american chaps.
At some point they just said: "we have to leave soon, we are playing at LO-FI (Milan rock club)" and it turns out it was actually PIGS.
Really nice guys, not the stereotype rock heads, I would have never guessed their "job" until they told me.

Happy Mondays @ Brixton Academy 3rd December.

And, if the rumours in Manchester this morning are true, hopefully The Stone Roses sometime next year.

Tickets booked to Kurt Vile in Queenstown in Jan. Not sure how he'll translate live. But great that we're getting solid acts down south.

Unfair on AC/DC, great band. More a comment on BoBs mungo-ness. Still no excuse for seeing KBW though. ;)

17 minute solo? Self indulgent shite.

Puhlease. Couldn't think of many worse things. Particularly by a limited guitarist like Angus.

He's no Jimi Hendrix or Stevie Ray.

Angus is a fantastic guitarist, for what he does. Technically there are much, much better but so what, Adam Jones is similarly 'limited'. Having not heard the 17 min 'solo', I can't comment on it.

Just my opinion mate.

I would probably crack it at any guitarist trying a 17 minute solo regardless of their capabilities

Those guys are more innovators like Eddie Van Halen too. Malcolm (the more respected guitarist among his peers) and Angus Young are more meat & potatoes rock n roll guitarists. I do agree most guitar solos are self-indulgent wankfests and Angus has done this for decades with Let There Be Rock effectively ruining it and prefer the Foo Fighters pity version they seem to be doing on their current tour. Hearing a few more tracks from the best rock album to come out of Oz, Powerage, would be better and not just the token song, Sin City.

The most disappointing thing with the current lineup is Chris Slade who is better suited to other employers of his like David Gilmour and Jimmy Page than this style of band. Hopefully the more simplistic, Phil Rudd, cleans up his act and is allowed to travel.

To MB, I didn't see many Mungoes this time and have only seen KBW on Sydney's North Shore that is an absolute dead zone for Loig especially since the Bears have long since been kicked out of the NRL.

Not a fan generally, but who knows how it played out. A blues saturated wank off would be better than listening to Vai.

Is this the acoustic tour and have you been yet? I'm going tonight, looking forward to it as it's in the Michael Fowler Centre which is the only place in Wellington with decent acoustics.

Saw U2 at the hydro last week. In one of the most modern, purpose built concert venues in the world, U2 decided to hang 50 foot screens from the roof that ensured that about 5000 of the 14000 audience couldn't see any of the stage. The only thing the screens added was constant footage of syria and the refugee crisis. :x

Ultimate proof of what a pretentious shower of arrogant cocks they have turned into.

Chicks is a great venue. Fantastic to see it rejuvenated and being used again. Attracting great bands too, Sebadoh, Dinosaur Jr, Shellac, Steve Malkmus, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Liam Finn...
Looks like Chicks is set to close down early in the New Year unfortunately.

Yeah, bummer. Saw that over the weekend. As long as someone continues getting quality live acts south and brings it closer to town to open up patronage. QT now has a scene for these bands (The Sherwood) since Chicks was attracting US indie acts. Just hope it doesn't dry up.
