Ash playing Free All Angels (with Charlotte Hatherly) in September
Public Service Broadcasting in October.

They've not announced anything yet, but I'd assume the Manics will be touring in Autumn, so will be going to see them too.

After that, twice postponed Anchoress gig in London in May, hopefully.

Haven't seen either of them live yet so hoping for a bogan fest of quality heavy metal!
Wait. Where??

In the last few months I've seen Europe, Foreigner, Whitesnake, Weezer, Fall Out Boy, Green Day, Stereophonics, Pearl Jam.

I fúcking love live music.
In Melbourne as part of the hilariously named Res Erections tour! And that is a fine list of bands to see. Covid has f**ked music squarely in the pooper. :x

Not a huge fan of their recordings but their concerts are fascinating.
Really? I'm the opposite. Loved their first couple of records but the last time I saw them they bored the arse off me. Might have just caught them on an off day.

Maybe , but I’d imagine them pretty consistent . It’s certainly not your average live band show , infact the boring is almost part of its ambience .

The visuals really threw me , I’m pretty up on art history and references but it was a aesthetic I’d never remotely seen before , like another freaking planet . It’s a space you have to get to I guess .

Might try again with their recordings .

A rare visit to see a live band for me a couple of weeks ago. I'd never heard of them - Bright Eyes in Hammersmith. Not bad. A drunk lead singer who forgot the opening lyrics to one song, started playing another in the wrong key on the piano and had to be physically shown by the main keyboard player, and also started playing the guitar to yet another in the wrong key. To be fair none of his fudge ups were mid song. He also rambled tediously about stuff in between songs which I guess is par for the course for a lot of these people.

Conor Oberst, he left the stage here after two songs. The rest of the band stayed and hosted a karaoke session with the fans.

Taking the wife to see Elton John tomorrow night, neither of us have seen him. I know he might now be at his best at this age, but really looking forward to it.

This summer, I have been to quite a few shows.

Went to a heavy metal festival with the headliners over three nights was Disturbed, Evanescence, and Shinedown. 2nd tier bands that really surprised me was Theory of a Deadman, Motionless in White, and Black Veil Brides.

Then did the mixtape tour, which was New Kids on the Block, Salt n Pepa, En Vogue and Rick Astley...it was terrific and cheesy in all the right ways. The band would play 2 or 3 songs, and then next group, etc. Rick's voice is still terrific.

Upcoming concerts:

B52s - final tour here in the US
Killers - saw them once and they were not good, but that was a long time ago...everybody raves about their shows, so want to give them another shot
Iron Maiden - one of my bucket list bands to see..finally will be in town when they are coming here
Arcade Fire

He has been a bit erratic during this current tour. Houston appears to have been his worse effort to date.

Just saw Billy Joel, pretty impressive effort for a gent of his age. Very generous in the way he shares the spotlight with his band members and blended in songs from The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and ZZ Top, even some Italian Opera.

Crowd demographics were quite funny, a COVID outbreak would be carnage given the age profile.

Well that’s exactly what Steel Panther are. I always thought Airbourne were a pisstake AC/DC tribute band, but they seem serious, sadly.

So what has that got to do with them being good fun to listen to and go and see? You are actully a snob, the first call was a bit light hearted but the second one seems very accurate. Sad.

Oh I say it with a large grin, I think it’s funny, even though Airbourne suck shit. AC/DC are just too great a band to openly rip. Steel Panther get it though. It might be quite a weird bill. One openly known parody band and a serious act who actually are a parody but just don’t know it.

I don't know if I've made this recommendation before but if you are in the Herts/Essex/East and North London area and Scam69 are playing in a pub near you then make sure you don't miss then. They've been touring now for all least 25 years and they really know how to play. Pub Rock/Punk/New Wave covers. Brilliant.

They are brilliant, absolute quality all-round.

I would love to see Foreigner live… well jealous there… we recently added ‘Urgent’ into our set to show off our sax player, what a great tune.
