Really? Lucky you. Are you flying Air NZ from LAX? How long ago did you book that? My understanding - and I'm going through a travel agent here in these unreliable times - is that schedules are unstable and flights regularly cancelled. I would drop everything to leave at a moment's notice, as I figure I will be exposed to the virus irrespective of whether I stay here or take 2 flights back to NZ. Would rather get it over with.

Needs a viable third party. In my time in the US it strikes me that there never seems to be a 3rd choice, or a middle way, or even 4th and 5th choices. It's black and white, goodies and baddies, Republican or Democrat, "you're either with us or you're against us", democratic systems versus anything else etc etc etc. And there's nowhere else to go, impasse. Why can't people here conceive of alternatives?

Whereas in Europe it's all shades of grey; most governments are coalitions, especially with proportional representation systems, and there are always a number of choices in anything.
