Oddly enough, I met a Zimbabwean wildlife guide in Victoria Falls last week who insisted that Donald Trump was born in Zim. Claimed to know a domestic cleaner who worked for the family.

Would that there were a smidgen of substance to it.

For a Harvard law professor to use phrases like "crime-like" and "I'm more correct now" in all seriousness is laughable. Exposed himself as a useful tool.

Minor eh? Lolita express-like?

So the Dems still want the Senate to do the House's job by calling and interviewing witnesses? Get on with this circus already

Most of the jury have already decided on their verdict without the need for evidence or facts, so the witnesses aren't really there to assist the trial tbf.

Public opinion battle.

Can the Dems lead the swingers to believe that the Reps are burying a real issue, with mafia involved and personal interests at stake.

Will the Reps feel pressurized to run a "fair trial", calling both sides witnesses to show the voters that they are not like the Dems?

Or will the Reps convince the people that this is a waste of everybody's time and energy and that on the basis that abuse of power isn't impeachable then there is no need for a trial?

Agreed. Begs the question of why the House didn't do a better job then. They had all the opportunity, and responsibility to gather/interview their witnesses.

That's basically how I read it.

For the Democrats, the worst possible result is for the impeachment to be adopted and Trump impeached.

The best result is for it to be absolutely transparently clear that Trump has used his office to both obstruct justice and to bribe a foreign Government to assist in his 2020 Presidential Campaign, particularly if the Republican Senate are seen to be deliberately ignoring evidence and their own duty in order to protect Trump.

Trump may well win the 2020 Presidential race (he can do so with 5 million fewer votes than his Democrative rival, according to a study I saw), but, if the Republicans cannot carry the Senate, it will be very difficult for him.

I stand open to correction, but that's how I see it.

rinkidink. You are correct in your assumption that if the Dems control the House and the Senate after the next election, we'll have 4 years of nothing getting done.

Because a lot of the evidence wasn't available then?

Parnas' testimony is quite recent, and Bolton was hiding behind Executive Privilege previously.

Because so much has been achieved in the last 4 years?

I know it sound hysterical, but America is in very real danger of becoming a dictatorship without the ability of the other executive branches to hold the President to account.

Well considering the executive is holding the president to account right now then your Hysteria is clear.

You don't read so good, do you Bimbo?

The premise was that Trump is not held to account because the impeachment fails (which is surely must, given that the playing field is not level).

After the Mueller report and the "complete exoneration", Trump hes been emboldened to use his office and withheld military assistance on the proviso that Zelensky would damage his political opponent by announcing an investigation into Biden.

If you get a let off, the tendency for normal people is to avoid getting yourself into a similar position again, but not Trump. I have no doubt that, if he were to escape unscathed here, he would ramp it up again.

I read perfectly your point is totally ludicrous, the process failing doesn’t mean the process doesn’t exist.

You’re an anti fact.

I doubt it. It seems around here you can say anything you want to right wing white nationalist racists and anti-Semites and get away with it. Justice is in short supply.
