Literally you couldn’t make it up. It’s like an episode of the office or something
Lower than the world was bad enough but the metric used to put them there was jaw dropping.

Deaths per positive test

The number of cases is a squishy number and the more you test the more you find, so Trump is correct here. However, the known hard numbers are the size of the population of country A and the number of deaths due to Covid-19 in country A. We don't need to know the number of tests in country A at all when comparing mortality across countries due to Covid-19 as a percentage of the population.

Trump is pig shit thick.
I suspect he is very unwell. Did you see the Yo Semite video? https://twitter.com/AlxThomp/status/1290668289585057792
That is horrendous.

When I was fresh off the boat, I thought it was pronounced yo se mite having never heard it before  . But then again, I didn't have the benefit of growing up exposed to Yosemite Sam and his exploits, unlike Trump.
When I first arrived in California, place names like La Jolla (Hoya) and El Cajon (Ka-hone) caught me out pretty badly, but I had definitely heard of Yo-semi-tee before.
Yosemite is what makes America the greatest country in the world.

What I am hoping for is a defeat of massive proportions for the GOP, to teach them a lesson and push the to review their short term populist approach, and make them pay the price for aligning behind Trump.
That would be ideal.

Teach them a...? Are you kidding? All they will "learn" from any defeat, no matter how heavy, is that Socialism is bad for 'Murica.

This is exactly why I wish you'd stop arguing with pretty much everyone on here. Your indefatigability is noteworthy, but you genuinely diminish everybody on your side's point by sticking your ill informed, blinkered position in every other fúcking post.

Would it be though? Can see Trump losing in a massive way, the Dems inheriting a country messed up by Covid and struggling to recover. Trump then sits on the sideline and says "see what you get with the Dems". We know certain segments of the US electorate will eat it up.

The Frog, maybe. For me, nothing so idealistic as attempting instructional learning, change is too much to hope for. Just punish them, but more importantly, remove their particular brand of idiocy from power and government. Plain and simple.

That's going to happen regardless. The only way it doesn't play out something like that, is if Trump wins.

I think it will take a landslide victory for Biden to crowbar him out of the Whitehouse.

He's already laying in the groundwork for his resistance.

Please.

If I've said something stupid, point it out.

I acknowledge that I'm ill-informed on a lot of things, but I hope I'm big enough to take justified criticism and I'm interested enough to want to comment on some of them.

I take it this is about the Cops behaving badly thread, where I failed to notice the depth of field of a photograph and then didn't read responses carefully enough, but I've apologised for that and acknowledged my error.

So Trump "feels" that the Beirut explosion was an attack, despite a lack of evidence.

Not just stirring more shit and fear of the outside, while distracting from domestic matters. Nope. He's got a feeling.

Not sure which is more disturbing. That POTUS is as thick as a plank, or that he's smarter than a huge swathe of those who voted for him.

This POTUS will come or go. As they all eventually do. The issue regarding a significant chunk of those who vote for him does not have a term limit.

Where these folks can next be steered and by whom, is properly scary.

That's why I said "reportedly".

HH has a point: if I'm detracting from the debate by saying something stupid, I would prefer to have that pointed out.

I'm not going to stop posting on stuff I find interesting, but I'm aware that I'm not fully up to speed on a number of matters and I'm happy to be corrected.

The only things keeping Trump going is his narcissism and his vindictiveness, it's how he keeps his administration and Republicans in line.
