Err...that's kinda the point. For 8yrs no-one (including Obama) gave a shit the Deputy NSA had been refused security clearance.

Now it's hot news Trump's S in L is still waiting on clearance.
But Obama!

Neither the GOP who ran the house for 6 years. They cared about Benghazi but not Rhodes. They shutdown the government but not Rhodes. So why did conservatives not care?

What are the odds on him going rogue?

Seems as if he’s being abandoned.

Am I saying a group of people that cried wolf anything with the hint of trouble for Obama were all over it, yet they weren't over this. Maybe because you are using revisionist history to paint Rhodes into some sort of rogue to try and put him on par with Kushner which is just no possible because Kushner is a legit problem not a politcal make believe foe, a guy who is legitimately comprised and is a problem for US national security!!

Just to follow on, lets find someone in the Obama administration that did the following...
The Securities and Exchange Commission last year dropped an inquiry it was making into financial firm Apollo Global Management shortly after it agreed to loan Jared Kushner’s family’s business $180 million.

According to the Associated Press, “Apollo said in its 2018 annual report that the SEC had halted its inquiry into how the firm reported the financial results of its private equity funds and other costs and personnel changes,” whereas it had “previously reported that the Obama administration SEC had subpoenaed it for information related to the issue.”

TheNew York Times reported this week that Apollo made a massive loan to Kushner Companies last year shortly after its chief executive met with Kushner at the White House.

Then: The Intercept reported on Friday that Kushner Companies tried unsuccessfully to lobby Qatari Finance Minister Ali Sharif Al Emadi to try to secure an investment for its troubled property at 666 Fifth Avenue in New York City.

Just one month after Qatar’s government turned down the loan request, the country found itself blockaded by a group of nations led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates — and Kushner was reportedly a driving force inside the administration of supporting the blockade.
It is from dem site Raw story but if you go to the link you can be linked to articles from the AP, Times and Intercept.

As ever, its the cover up that gets you.

Potential criminality summed up here:

https://www.politico.com/magazine/story ... ion-215366
Well that's all over the place. Which is why I can't understand why anyone has any certainty about this. The relevant laws are uncertain, the potential crimes are uncertain, the activities are uncertain the motives are uncertain etc. etc.
The other thing about that article, pigsy, is if none of those guys are clear about what specific crime Meuller is supposed to be investigating, how can it be said that the regulatory requirement for the AG to specify a crime when arousing a special investigator (whatever) has been met? Nobody knows precisely what Meuller is investigating. Maybe not even him.
The investigation was not set up to explicitly find criminality but to expose the whole depth of Russian interference of the US presidential election. Given that the Russians may well have used links.blackmail/íncentives to coerce individuals to their own ends, this means that the investigation has the capacity to be wide-ranging. The interesting aspect is if they will investigate Trumps tax affairs...

When a country (USA) is losing many billions of dollars on trade with virtually every country it does business with, trade wars are good, and easy to win. Example, when we are down $100 billion with a certain country and they get cute, don’t trade anymore-we win big. It’s easy!

Are we sure this isn't because Trump knows that some British guy called Steele had a big part in starting the investigation into collusion ?

Nepotism is hard...
Privately, some aides have expressed frustration that Mr. Kushner and his wife, the president’s daughter Ivanka Trump, have remained at the White House, despite Mr. Trump at times saying they never should have come to the White House and should leave. Yet aides also noted that Mr. Trump has told the couple that they should keep serving in their roles, even as he has privately asked Mr. Kelly for his help in moving them out.

Can one of the financial genuises on here explain why the Steel tariffs just announced are going to be a god thing for the US? I know some local steel producers will benefit fairly quickly, but what about the rest of the country? Steel consumers are going to be working hard with this brilliant infrastructure-rebuild plan, and possibly any other major construction projects that may be built on the Mexican border, are they going to lose out on cheap steel from overseas?

OK, if that answer is too tough, which countries are the most affected by the Steel Tariffs?

Of the 35M Tons imported by the States, it comes from:

1. Canada 16.7 percent

2. Brazil 13.2 percent

3. South Korea 9.7 percent

4. Mexico 9.4 percent

5. Russia 8.1 percent

6. Turkey 5.6 percent

7. Japan 4.9 percent

8. Germany 3.7 percent

9. Taiwan 3.2 percent

10. China 2.9 percent

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa- ... SKCN1GE10I

Is it reasonable to think that just because Canada, Brazil and South Korea are the main suppliers, they'll also the worst affected by the Tariff or is that too straightforward?

Do you drink?
If you don't know, just say so.

How about the likely result of the Tariffs being a Trade war? The talking heads on TV are all giving their worst case scenarios, which seem to be tariffs - trade war - inevitable depression.
Is that the most likely option, or do our resident financial geniuses thing it may play out in another direction?

Is that the most likely option, or do our resident financial geniuses thing it may play out in another direction?

If you don't know the answer, don't feel you have to post random abuse instead, but we won't think any less of you if you do.
Who is 'we'?
You can just leave it for actual financial geniuses on here to answer. I'm not asking you specifically, you don't actually need to dodge the question.
(It was the Royal 'we' btw, anyone else here is of course free to think even less of you here)

Big hit with Ohio Democrats Sherrod Brown and Tim Ryan. With Paul Ryan, not so much. I sometimes forget you're a conservative.

Given how many posts have been laughing at Trump, that's an easy point to forget.
Well, I think you're basically a John McCain acolyte? Dying breed, no pun intended. But this will win Trump points with labor in the Rust Belt. Sensible move.

OK, if that answer is too tough, which countries are the most affected by the Steel Tariffs?

Of the 35M Tons imported by the States, it comes from:

1. Canada 16.7 percent

2. Brazil 13.2 percent

3. South Korea 9.7 percent

4. Mexico 9.4 percent

5. Russia 8.1 percent

6. Turkey 5.6 percent

7. Japan 4.9 percent

8. Germany 3.7 percent

9. Taiwan 3.2 percent

10. China 2.9 percent

Is it reasonable to think that just because Canada, Brazil and South Korea are the main suppliers, they'll also the worst affected by the Tariff or is that too straightforward?

Key point in this article, the USA can't expand it's industry production so it's a straight tax on imports.
What's not in the article beyond stating imports are up 18% is that the US aluminium industry is doing well +5% production from same time last year. We're not talking about a depressed industry but one that's already doing its best to meet rising demand...

Had a little dig around the aluminium industry. Well as much of a dig as I felt like lying in bed on a Sunday morning. It's complicated. China is the world's largest manufacturer by an order of magnitude, simply immense, 31 million tonnes (of the world's 57 million tonnes) while Russia at the next highest is only 3,000 million tonnes and the rest of the world makes up in slices. Yet when it comes to value of exports, Russia leads the way by a long way. So I'm guessing we're talking say aircraft grade stuff rather than beer cans. And for the USA imports, who is going to be impacted the most per the article and from what I can see it's Canada again. And Canada is accepted as being integral to the USA's strategic defence. The countries with the biggest trade deficits to the USA don't register.

It's screwed up.

it will hurt business that use steel as part of their product because prices will go up regardless of if they use domestic or foreign.
