Something has gone badly wrong with his trade war idea. The EU slapped tarrifs on Harley Davidson who are now going to shift production overseas. That wasn't supposed to happen.

His america first lolicy is going to push more and more American based globals into this scenario.

Note - 'person', not citizen.

The constitution applies to those persons on American soil, deportable aliens (the correct legal term) caught at the border are not regarded as on American soil and therefore the constitutional protections don’t apply.

Not saying that the sentiment expressed is right btw, just that it’s not a constitutional issue.

The fact that he doesn't realise his tariff on steel already affected a beleaguered HD, if he did he would have gone out of his way to rectify the issue with such a powerful American brand, especially considering most of the assembly for HD happens out of Milwaukee, so the lay offs are going to come directly from his core.

Secondly that he did comprehend that a Trade war would be targeted at American products not resources because America's global success is product not resource driven.

Nothing he has done at any stage has shown an ability to strategise beyond the next step, he's shouted his way through everything and that's worked for him so far.

I will hand it to him though, he is doing a fantastic job of lining every other country in the world up against the US.

What I find staggering is that the Trump Administration is going through all this effort and cost and bad press, to enforce their zero tolerance policy and prosecute the immigrants with a charge that carries a minimum penalty of $50 and a maximum penalty of $250...which they are unlikely to be able to recoup once the individual has been deported.

So much for fiscal conservatives. The current zero tolerance policy gets the exact same outcome (deportation) at a much higher cost (financially, socially, reputationally).

If you are being generous, I suppose you could say it is the principle of the rule of law, but that would only fly if the Trump Administration was ethical, and let's be honest there...they haven't really made that a priority.

I am intrigued to know why anybody should be arguing that riding roughshod over the Courts is, in general, the right thing to do.

I know that there is a very hardcore of libertarian wit kant who have the President's ear and have filled the White House with their stooges who feel that nothing should be allowed to stand in their way, but I can't for the life of me see why people who aren't sociopaths with no regard for anything other than fattening their already morbidly obese wallets should think relentless attacks on the Courts, the media, the process of government and all that jazz is a good thing.
