Whose?

Trump's or Seneca's?

In point of fact I suppose there's a lot of sympathy for taking out Suleimani, and there is a possibility that it may have provided some small setback for Iranian terror capabilities, but the manner in which the strike was carried out suggests that this was ill-considered and the consequences were not thought through. Indeed, it smacks of opportunistic electioneering.

The rider at the bottom of the announcement that this was "at the direction of the president", suggests that the Pentagon is trying to distance itself from the action.

One would hope that the American electorate is not dumb enough to fall for it, but that remains more of a hope than an expectation.

Amazingly Mark Esper, the secretary of defense has not seen the same intel as Trump.

No specific evidence that Suleimani was planning an attack on four US Embassies.

Trump lies again, no imminent threat, almost starts a war over nothing, no one cares/nothing matters.

Has anyone seen Lev Parnas's document dump? In it, Parnas and Robert Hyde (a congressional GOP candidate from Connecticut) apparently discuss assassinating Marie Yovanovitch.

Hyde to Parnas: "They are willing to help if you would like a price" and "Guess you can do anything in the Ukraine with money...what I was told."
Hyde to Parnas: "If you want her out they need to make contact with security forces."

This while they're tracking her movements, with Hyde giving Parnas real time updates on her security and electronic access.

And after Trump said to Zelenskiy: "She's going to go through some things."

Parnas's lawyers now disavowing any part by their client in this 'plot'.

Bored Trumpers: is this okay?

I'm not a bored Trumper, but I'm not sure that, even if the exchange were about assassination, it would have been seriously entertained.

Surely it would be easier and less risky to simply have her recalled?

It wasn't the administration that was suggesting having her assassinated. It was this dude Hyde, a member of Rudy's special forces strikefarce. Even Parnas is distancing himself from the idea. But it's still as dangerous as fcuk. It explains why she was urgently recalled.

In defense of the administration, it seems this Hyde might be a marginal nutjob. He was once arrested at a Trump resort and brought to a medical facility under a state law that allows for involuntary confinement of people who might pose a risk to themselves. Although that might've been a deep state intervention.

Indeed. Trump's underloons were talking about assassinating a sitting ambassador. Although they were joking. That defence always works. In the past the FBI would've taken those words quite seriously. Thankfully they're run by adults now.

We're setting sail to the place on the map

Drawn by the promise of the women and the lace

It's the place where they keep all the darkness you need.

More winning.
President Trump signed a landmark trade agreement with China, heralding a period of detente in a trade war between the world's two largest economies fueled by decades of complaints that Beijing was manipulating its currency and stealing trade secrets from American firms.

The pact, detailed in a 94-page document, is only the initial phase of a broader deal that Trump has said may come in as many as three sections. "Together, we are righting the wrongs of the past," Trump said in a pomp-filled signing ceremony. "It doesn't get any bigger than this."

The agreement will help grow the U.S. economy in 2020 and 2021 by “at least a half a point of additional GDP” and “probably translate into another million jobs on top of what we’ve already done,” Larry Kudlow, director of the National Economic Council, told FOX News' "America's Newsroom" on Wednesday.

If abject back down and delivering nothing more than a minor deficit improvement with China (a debatable benefit).
The US has dropped plans to impose tariffs on an additional US$160 billion in Chinese imports, and it cut in half, to 7.5 per cent, existing tariffs on US$110 billion of goods from China.

n advance of the signing, the US Treasury Department dropped its designation of China as a currency manipulator.

Chinese exporters responded to Trump's tariff hikes by shipping goods to the United States through other countries and by stepping up sales to Asia, Europe and Africa. The government reported double-digit gains in 2019 exports to France, Canada, Australia, Brazil and Southeast Asia.

n advance of the signing, the US Treasury Department dropped its designation of China as a currency manipulator.

Chinese exporters responded to Trump's tariff hikes by shipping goods to the United States through other countries and by stepping up sales to Asia, Europe and Africa. The government reported double-digit gains in 2019 exports to France, Canada, Australia, Brazil and Southeast Asia.
And in the meantime a country not 2/3rds the size of California and only a fraction of the population of the USA has over taken the USA to be the biggest exporter to the largest agricultural produce market on the planet which is China.
Surely that's between Russia, Canada, Brazil and [at a stretch] Australia?
Hmmm, there's definitely a commonality between those 4 countries.
