Lets see what happens regarding the facts that emerge, but it's been pointed out a few times by the authorities that simply getting a vehicle is a pretty effective weapon, and a hell of a lot easier than guns/bombs.

Pictures on Twitter look pretty bad. Looks like the police have put a lot of bullets into the front of the truck, unless they are old pics being dredged up.

The various images I'm seeing would surely have to be an attack.
The only other alternative would be a massive heart attack for a driver who also managed to drive straight for a long way down a promenade (off the road) whilst having the heart attack.

Some media outlets are saying 40 dead, though of course massive speculation I presume.
The world right now makes me a bit sick - what the fudge are we doing? Everyone has lost it.

There are some terrible, terrible pictures on Twitter.
Piles of bodies, as I guess you would expect if a truck hit a massive crowd.
As if posting this on a forum makes any difference, but commiserations to our French friends. FFS.

The prefecture of the area labels it as a terrorist attack. 30-50 allegedly dead, big truck that drove into the crowd gathered for Bastille day fireworks on the promenade des Anglais. Gunfire was also heard.
People in Nice invited to stay indoors.

It's always hard to know the credibility of images/footage, but someone is on Twitter periscoping (live video for the grandads) a very large fire apparently coming from a bridge/road.
Actually the fire seems to be in Paris - no suggestion it's an attack - not sure why the person has "Attack in Nice" in their description.

Hardly surprising info but just watching CNN and a witness has told them that it was quite clear the driver was aiming for people, accelerating and steering into crowds.
They are also saying the drivers exited the truck and fired at people with guns.
They then got back in the truck and opened fire at another location.

Bloody f*cking bastards, when are we going to start really fighting back FFS? war is upon us.
My wife and 3 kids are 10kms from there and went to see the fireworks tonight, thank God not in Nice.
Commiserations to all victims (60 casualties reported) and all those injured. I guess there must have been a lot of families and sadly, kids.

Hostages have been taken in a hotel in the city. The RAID anti-terror squad has been deployed to the city.
It is believed the gunmen are holding hostages in the Meridien Hotel, the Hotel Negresco and the Buffalo Grill restaurant.
