Anyway, Boston has to move some guys. Thunder have room to get Smart - so Presti better be on that phone!

Holy crap, that is ridiculous, just insane depth. The Jordan Bell coup on draft night just adds salt into the wounds.

Roberson just signed for 3/30! Likely a 2 + 1 - player option 3rd year.

The poor bastard turned down 4/48 when the money was insane last off-season!

Anyway, awesome news. I love the kid. Our defence is going to be insane... excluding the entire bench of course.

Just need a back-up PG now.

EDIT: Looks like it's 3/30 straight up. The market is dry...

Melo reportedly willing to waive his no-trade clause with the Knicks for either Cavs or Rockets

Interesting. I hope my Knicks can work something out, cause he's been super loyal (admittedly on good $) to the Knicks despite what can only be described as a shitstorm on and off the court for 4 years

Best scenario for me is to do a Love 3-way deal, cause I really don't want K-Love on the Knicks. We're trying to build around KP and now Ntilikina (and, ofc, RON)
Can't see Houston offering much other an a bunch of vets that don't really fit for our team

Will he waive his 15% trade bonus though? Cause that's another $4M to fit under the cap for whoever wants him.

My guess would be yes, for those two teams. He's still got 1 more year and a player option after that, and it's well known he's good mates with Paul, James and Wade... so he'd prolly take a small cut to have a crack at a deep playoff run.

I guess the problem for the Cavs would be who they can actually trade for that money. Love's the only possibility with a comparable contract but I don't think they'd want to get rid of him. Thompson and someone else, maybe.

The bench can bring you (us? my 2nd favorite team...) points though. Roberson can't hit the broad side of a barn unfortunately, and his FT shooting is probably worse than mine. I cringed last year when he started to get Hack-a-Shaq'd by D'Antoni, but I fear that's not the last time we'll see that.

Westbrook and PG will have to do some heavy lifting on offense. Kanter's a great scorer but then of course you're sacrificing D (though I do like the gravity he brings to the paint as an old-school down-low guy). Maybe Abrines/McDermott will step it up?

Maybe we can also get Abrines to do more of this.
Smee wrote:Tatum and Brown carving up for the Celtics.
Another St. Louisan :smug:

We could put a decent small-ball team out:

1. a repatriated Kevin Lisch
2. Bradley Beal
3. Jayson Tatum
4. Otto Porter
5. David Lee

Bench:
bring Larry Hughes out of retirement
Ben McLemore (just signed for the Griz btw)
Tyler Hansbrough (ok, a bit of a stretch...plus he kinda sucks)
....
Me?
The other Hansbrough

I don't know what you see in Roberson. Sure he's an ok defender, but he can't shoot a lick.

Spurs pick up Rudy Gay.

Very, very happy with that acquisition, takes a little of the scoring load off of Kawhi which is great since you don't want him flogging himself every night.

The Spurs still need more help. Any chance of trading Lamarcus Aldridge for somebody more reliable?

I agree that he hasn't panned out as a Spur but his play this past postseason really killed his trade value so Im not sure that the Spurs could expect to get a lot in return especially considering the size of his contract.

So 2 of the celtics starters will be Smart and Zizic?

They are still so far off the mountain.

I'd be amazed if Zizic starts, it'll be one of Crowder or Morris most likely. Also I will not have a bad word spoken against Marcus Smart, he's a hero.

Felton's signing might be the highlight of the Thunder's free agency - such is the walking basketball abortion that is Semaj Christon. Maybe the worst player I've ever watched... certainly the worst rotation player.

I'm still gobsmacked he's in the league!

Anyway, nice work by Presti this summer.

The trouble with the Lakers' young talent (Ball & Ingram), is that they're too young. That's what happens when clubs draft freshman players at college. It's going to take years for them to mature.

That's fine coz it'll be a couple of years before GWS/OKC/Houston/Spurs come off the top of the conference.

Yup.......its why the hype around the Sixers is frankly hilarious, their core is so young, inexperienced and injury prone itll take years if they manage it at all.......I say that as I watch the announcers spend 30 minutes sucking off Bryan Colangelo and "the process".

Canada pounds Italy in U-19 championship final, wins historic men’s basketball world gold
Canada defeated USA in the semi finals.
This is the first ever medal for Canada at the U 19's.

Maybe the top 19 yr old basketball player in the world.

RJ Barrett
Barrett will be two years younger than most of the competition as he was born in 2000, but he will be one of Canada's leaders. In fact, the 6ft 7in (2.00m) wing is considered one of the next future stars in Canadian basketball.

Barrett, who is the son of former Canadian Olympian basketball player Rowan Barrett, played with the Canadian senior national team in the build-up to the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament 2016. RJ did not make the team for the OQT but eventually starred for Canada at the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2016. Now, he will take over a leadership role of the Canadian U19 team and have another chance to show the world that Canada's pipeline of high-level talent continues to flow.
