Embiid is amazing - but he faded in this one.
Steve got better as the game went on. Massive effort, and good to see Russ trusting him in the 4th.
Great game by the boys. On a second night of a very emotional B2B, they did well.

Is Adams going to continue to develop as a player with the Thunder or will he be a role player that help Westbrook and whoever else the Thunder have on their roster?
He drew a bit of criticism last year for resting on his laurels - not my words - after a very good season the year before and this year he really seems to have taken off as far as his contributions to the team go.

His struggles last year were a lot to do with the Thunder not having enough offensive threats to space the floor. This year, defenders can't cheat off George & Anthony so he's got more space to operate.
His shooting touch from outside is a lot better than you ever see in games as he's really disciplined about shot selection - he basically doesn't shoot outside of 15 feet. But it wouldn't surprise me to see him develop his outside game in future seasons.
His post play is still super rudimentary and his footwork isn't great - to be honest, I don't think the Thunder coaches are great at teaching him post play as he's still making some basic errors when he gets it down low (for instance, he catches it in such a way that his pivot foot is established - good post players will make sure to catch it and land on two feet when possible as that way they can use either foot as a pivot foot). He's not gonna be the focus of an offence but can be a legitimate second option, I reckon.

Clippers have traded Blake to the Pistons!
Blowing it up deluxe, as well they should...
The Clippers and Pistons have agreed on a deal to trade Blake Griffin for Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanovic, a first-round and a second-round draft pick, league sources tell ESPN.
Clippers are includig Brice Johnson and Willie Reed in the trade, league sources tell ESPN.
Sources: Protections on Detroit's 2018 first-round pick headed to Clippers -- 2018: 1-4; 2019: 1-4; 2020: 1-4; 2021: unprotected. Detroit will send a 2019 second-round pick in the trade too.

Bradley hasn't had a great year. I wouldn't have given up a first for him...
Thunder don't have much to offer at the mo - but you never know - plenty of desperate sellers about.
Oh, and Blake will be spewing that he didn't get a No trade clause.

The Cavs are in a tough spot. If they trade that pick and Lebron leaves, they are screwed for a very long time. If they don't trade the pick, there's a good chance he leaves anyway. That said, the pick isn't as valuable as a lot of people think. It's currently the 7th or 8th pick and it's only going to get worse because Brooklyn has no incentive to tank. This is an awesome draft in the top 8 or so and maybe extending to the top 10, but it falls off a cliff after that.

If Lebron leaves, the pick won't make much difference unless it's a really high one and the Cavs would be stupid not to protect it. The chances of it being #1 are currently something like 1.5% so protecting it doesn't hurt it's value that much.

Brooklyn might not have any incentive to tank, but they will be sellers at the deadline.
They will remain bad.
But bottom 8 bad? That might depend on if the Hornets manage to move Kemba...

Who do they have to even sell who isn't a young player for the future? Basically Demarre Carroll and his contract is not great.

Are the Clippers under the pump financially? Is that why they're offloading players?

I haven't heard anything about financial problems, I think it's just that with Paul gone they're basically consigned to mid table mediocrity. Both Jordan and Williams are approaching their use by date (and they'd have to pay Jordan big money to keep him). They could have tried to recruit or trade for a big player but they've decided to go this route instead.
Williams and Jordan will both be traded, I'm sure and I wouldn't be surprised to see Bradley finish the season somewhere else as he's a free agent after this season.

I’m assuming this is a play for Lebron; that’s the only thing that really makes sense.
Many calling for a “rebuild” but I find it hard to believe they’ll end up with a better team than they have now. Or had.
Oh well. The die has been cast.

Russ + Melo - can't defend and can't shoot... and ignored PG down the stretch!
Still really, really hoping Melo opts out - but he probably won't.
Not a great game by any means from both sides. Steve playing a ridiculous amount of minutes. Patterson with only 11.
Ferguson not ready yet. Billy just standing there and watching the kid put us in a hole to start both halves...
So frustrating - but this team isn't going anywhere without Roberson's defence, so let's talk about Kevin Love's broken hand instead!
K-Love with a broken hand! Out 6-8 weeks! I'll trade you Melo for him, Cavs...

Dragic v. Simmons.
I'd give it to the kid, but I think he'll be an ASG fixture for years to come, so they'll give it to Dragic.

Apparently the deciding factor for both Paul & Drummond being chosen was that they were next pick on the coach votes.

The Suns have bought out Greg Monroe.
I would love him to back-up Steve, but the Celtics can offer him the most money.
Sounds like the Pellies are also very interested, and they can offer him a starting gig.

Did you read that the Clippers offered Griffin to OKC for PG? Could suggest OKC being confident in resigning him if they passed on that. Of course, it could just be cause they didn't wanna risk the back end of Blake's contract with his injury issues.

0.1% chance of keeping PG > Taking on Blake's contract.
Blake + Steve isn't a great fit together either.
See this yet?
Caught up with Blake Griffin for an interview that will run soon on @SportsCenter. He says he didn't hear from any Clippers personnel as trade talks intensified: "Finding out through Twitter, through other people, is a tough way to find out."

Blake's a punk, but this is really poor form by the Clippers.

Dragic replaces Love in the ASG. Fair enough.
Mirotic to the Pels confirmed. An excellent pick-up for them - they really have to do all they can to keep AD happy, and this should help.
Monroe still on their radar as well.

Dinwiddie is playing great now that he is finally fully healed from that ACL injury and he can play the 1 or the 2 on both sides of the ball. RHJ probably isn't a superstar but he's a + player. Dealing young guys for mediocre assets, with a supposedly weak 2019 draft class doesn't seem like the way forward for them. They're a big market team. Players want to play in New York and LA for winners. Their best way forward is probably to try and win as many games as possible and change the narrative and perception of the Nets as a franchise in order to land some big free agent signings. They should have a decent amount of cap room moving forward, too.

Robes ain't walking through that door, Russ - so maybe now is a good time to start trying on defence?
The dude literally doesn't even put his hand up to contest shots, and hangs Adams out to dry so often. I think I said earlier in this thread that Pop is the only coach that could get through to him. Billy is no chance...
The only defence Russ played tonight was on a fan:

I like Spencer, and was hoping the Thunder took a flyer on him in the '14 Draft. They didn't, and I've had to suffer through watching 3 bums instead. Thankfully only 1 remains...
I can understand the rationale in keeping him, tho - we haven't really seen him and Russell play together yet - a measly 50 minutes in total so far. Both guys can play off the ball.
However, what I'm really worried about is the fit in Atkinson's system - the Nets are second in 3PA, but are third to last in 3P%. Dinwiddie is currently at 33.4%, Russell is a 34.5% on his career, and RHJ is at 27.9% on the year. League average is 36.2%.
I'm confident that Russell can get his up, but can the Nets develop the other two? Maybe they don't need RHJ to...
I need to think on this more. The Nets are fascinating to me, and I want Marks to do well - so I take a keen interest in them.

An actual NBA coach said this:
Ferguson with the starters is a -27 NRtg over these last 5 games.
The team is already dying without Robes, but Billy gives them no chance by starting Ferg. He hooks him both halves and never brings him back - but the damage is done. 10 point hole today.
And Melo is so washed, yet Billy continues to play him huge minutes.
Realistically the Thunder should trade PG. Season died when Robes got injured. It won't happen - but it should.
At 30-20, with an 8 game winning streak, this team was flying. Now they look terrible and knackered - running the starters into the ground for Ls.

Yeah.
But if other suitors come in for him - maybe a contending team or 2 - then they might give up more for fear of losing him.
Anyway, that's all hypothetical.
The reality is that he's staying for the season, even though the Thunder might not make the playoffs, and if they do they'll be swept...

Same draft class as Steve. I've watched every game he's ever played for the Thunder. I've often re-watched games just to watch him and Steve.
I know how vital he is to this team.
The evidence is
overwhelming - Roberson's overall impact is a big positive, regardless of his offensive deficiencies.
I'm fed-up with ignorant plums that call him out for missed FTs, but
every game we see defence like this from Russ:

Robes never quits on a play - he is relentless, and helps cover for bums like Russ + Melo.
It's a pity it took a catastrophic injury for people to actually start to appreciate him.
