Kiwi tackling

Post by Crash_12 »

:uhoh:

Awful. High shots going in all over the show, less than half actually penalised by Peyper.

And after the World Rugby directive this week about head contact....

Imagine if Rutchie had been knocked out by such a challenge.

We'd have had an urgent question in Wellington for Mr Keys.

Bout time we were the ones getting away with blatant thuggery. Usually we're the ones copping it

You're not going to have a SH ref give you anything against them. Ireland should have engaged filth-mode also when it was abundantly clear that the ref was ok with illegal behaviour. Instead Ireland chose to play honest so can't complain.

Such a pity the fans couldn't keep the high standards of their team.

Well played Ireland.

Cane on Henshaw was fine but Fekitoas one was a shocker.
On the subject of tackling how good was Retalick.

Credit to the Irish offense, put the All Blacks under pressure and was unpredictable at times.

Yeah, given the history between them I doubt the Welsh will be particularly stricken that Ireland didn't win today

Re: Kiwi tackling
to keep the line intact against an Ireland side that threw absolutely everything at them, with 14 men for 20 minutes was a fantastic effort.

We all know what to expect when New Zealand feel threatened.

They resort to thuggery.

The strange thing is that the ref didn't know what to expect.

It was a head clash caused by Henshaw's sudden turn catching Cane unexpectedly. Similar to Hibbard on George Smith Lions tour which was just a scrum restart iirc.

Cane's tackle was not a head clash. It was shoulder to the head.

I've seen the replays. Including the slow motion one that sky used at half time from the reverse angle. It could not have been clearer.
